My doctor called yesterday and told me my bone scan showed that I did in fact have a stress fracture in my right foot below my small toe. She put me on crutches last week but I needed them more the two weeks before that when she didn't suggest them. Now I am supposed to stay off my foot so it can heal which is basically impossible with this new puppy. I have to take her out to the bathroom and walk her at least once a day to tire her out regardless of my foot injury. I should have waited until it healed to get a puppy but I was too impatient to get one as always.
Zeta is doing great but I am worried because she isn't eating much of her puppy food. I think she might just be grieving leaving her family. I have been giving her a few treats (small 3-4) and use her puppy for for the rest of her training. I also have been giving her a small chew stick because she will eat that. We are going to be changing her dog food to another brand but I want to get her eating good first. I am a little worried that she might have a stomach full of rocks and sticks because her original owners let her roam freely in the yard and she eats everything outside she can get into her mouth - sticks, acorns, leaves. I need to call the vet this week about an appointment for her so I will ask about her eating. She is doing awesome with her crate training and her learning to sit on command. Now I am working on getting her to come on command. She is getting lots of exercise. She is getting much better about not barking thank goodness. I didn't want our neighbors to go crazy or complain to the landlord.
My food is better but I have been out of some of my veggies for a couple of days. Last night we got what we needed so I will be fine today. I haven't managed to do exercises in 5 days though.
I called my older daughter and told her we needed to come visit in December instead of T'giving because of the puppy. I don't think she was thrilled but she didn't seem upset so we will try to go the week before New Year's. My youngest daughter will be on vacation from college so she can take care of the puppy.

I'm doing better with my food but it is back to my boring routine. I have been focusing lots of time and energy on our new puppy Zeta who is adorable but she chews on everything and has some separation anxiety issues that we have to work on. She barks when we leave her. We have been trying hard to tire before we leave her alone but it isn't the total solution. A couple of the puppy books suggest giving the puppies a toy with peanut butter inside for them to try to lick out to distract them when you leave so I will try that. I will also try to teach her to bark on Command and teach her the Enough command for stopping barking. She is still pretty young though only 7 weeks so I don't know how much she can learn. She does seem to be learning to sit on command. Despite our best efforts she has had a few accidents in the house and in her crate where she peed but she hasn't pooped inside. She is so cute. As soon as I can I will put a picture of her on here.
I went today to get my bone scan. It took about 5 hrs. but thankfully I was able to come home and see the puppy for a while in the middle of the process. We are wondering if she is allergic to the corn in her Purina puppy chow because she is scratching a lot and she has had two flea baths so she should be flea free. We are thinking of changing her to Nature's Recipe but it is $14.50 for 8 lbs. compared to $4.50 for 8 lbs. for the Purina puppy chow. Ouch!
They actually scanned my whole body and not just my foot today. They even had me sit on the bone scanner which was weird. I go see my family doctor on Friday to get the results. I have a funny feeling that nothing is going to show up on it. I just hope she lets me stop using crutches. I used them at the hospital today and it was a huge pain.
Tomorrow all I have to do is spend time with my puppy - try to get back to my exercise routines (which I have missed for about three days now) and my other activities and go to therapy.

We have a new Australian shepherd puppy and she is a real cutie pie. She is black and white with one blue eye and one brown eye. She is very affectionate and is a real lap baby. She cried a little during the long car ride home until she threw up then she stopped crying and calmed down a lot more. She was so interested in everything that she couldn't relax enough to take a nap. We bought her a leash and a collar, some food, some food dishes and toys. I let her explore a bit at home and cuddled her quite a while and she fell asleep for a while on my lap. After about half an hour we put her in her crate for the night. She cried for about 10 minutes (it seemed like forever) then she calmed down and went to sleep. The one thing that has me worried is I can't tell if she has gone to the bathroom yet (it is very dark out where we walk her) and it has been 6 hrs. since we got her. I didn't see her squat so I don't know that she went to the bathroom. I have taken her out multiple times during the ride home, after the drive and since being home. I'll take her out one more time before 3 am. I think the problem is she is used to running loose and going to the bathroom and she doesn't want to go while on the leash. We put a clock in a towel in the crate for the puppy but she isn't laying near it.
I can't wait to play with and love the puppy in the morning.
My food however was awful because I didn't eat lunch before we picked the puppy up so I went about 10 hrs. between meals with only some cashews to eat. Then I didn't eat my veggies. My food all week has been terrible. I have to pull myself together and get back on track with the food plan.
I am behind on my buddies journals but I hope to catch up tomorrow when the puppy is napping.
We are thinking of having our family doctor refer my husband to Vanderbilt to try to diagnose him. I think they will have seen a wider variety of disorders than our local doctors who seem puzzled as to what to do with my husband now.
