Well last recording for the 15 for 12 walking challenge, and the penultimate Sassie weekly recording. Definitely a time for endings I think. Just got home from Sandringham last night, after 10 months working away a well earned rest beckons, but not until after next weekends wedding of daughter, followed by a couple of weeks extensive decorating, so should get plenty of exercise in. Added to this was the news that our 10th grandchild is on the way, due next July :)

Busy busy week with the half term holiday bringing out the die hard campers last week, also getting ready to leave the site and trying to get to grips with Daughters wedding cake, and get the sugar roses made led to a week of less exercise than of late. Also had a couple of days where I didn't fall off the wagon as such but was surprised to see my carb intake went up unexpectedly, so must be more vigilant over what I am eating or I will be back in the diabetes zone again. I am hoping that after this week when we get home for the winter then things will settle down again and I can get my days organised again. In the meantime Note To self - "Watch that diet"

Second week blighted by ill health, even if it was just a cold. Still all better now and have started this week with an aerobics workout on my treadmill while at home this weekend, followed by 15 minutes of yoga stretches. Hopefully will be back on track this next week.

Not too bad a result considering Friday was a non day for me.
On the plus side just been to the docs and have been told that I am diabetes free, though I may develop it again in the future. So I am really pleased about that, particularly as I didn't follow any hare brained ideas of cutting out ALL carbs or to something ridiculously low, I simply followed the recommended guidelines for an average adult, swapped a few things around like sweet potatoes for normal ones, brown rice instead of white, almond milk instead of cows (no lactose in almond milk) to name a few. I cut down my portion sizes, and I exercised more making sure I generally got at least 6000 steps a day in. And changed snacks to healthy options. I still had cake once a week, fish and chips now and again and even the occasional illicit ice cream. So no extreme faddy diets just good old fashioned sensible eating and exercise which also brought my weight down by around 2 stone (28lb)
So for anyone struggling with type 2 diabetes "It is possible" but you have to change your mind set and stay focused. I did this within 6 months of being diagnosed and have maintained it.

Being poorly sick on Friday put a bit of a halt on my challenges but hopefully I shall scrape through.
Diabetic Health Check last Wednesday, and hoping I've managed to maintain my blood sugar levels at around normal, though following a letter from the doctors that my blood test results are in I'm a bit concerned as they now want me to go back for a Liver Function blood test in 2 weeks, I assume concerning my cholesterol levels. I can't cut back on anything else regarding cholesterol, but then the nurse told me that it could be genetic, and as my paternal grandfather died of a stroke and my father died a couple of years ago (at 84 mind) of a heart attack I guess they have something there. So here's my problem. If my cholesterol is high do I accept it and take the statins or continue to try and bring them down naturally, though I'm not sure what else I can do? I'm not one for taking medication of any kind, even for a headache. And on top of this I am worried that my sugar levels will have gone up again too despite my efforts. Will be ringing them tomorrow to find out the worst. :(
