I'm 19 My names Hugo back when I was in high school i failed my mile run i was the last one on the track wait no there was someone slower then me he was actually walking when i finished i felt horrible i felt bad i new i could of done way better later in the period i said to myself i wanna try again i know the teacher wouldent better my grade but i wanted to prove to the school or at least to my classmates i could do better my pace was not really good some students even laughed at me they thought i was just over excited but i kept going i never did listen to the negative voices around me well i ran and i ran i aventually took a break that same day but months before that i'd for long walks well a few days later after i started dedicating my self to running i still remmeber till this day i was in filming class with my teacher mrs johnsons i over heard on the speaker about a SRLA which stands students run la an organization for teens to train to run the Los angeles marathon... durring the annoucments they said to go to room 29 i still remmeber to talk to mr stone he was a big support he always did make feel happy he congradulated me to keep on going! well it was a hastle to get the paper work in but thank God it all went fine. the first couple of days it wasent so easy my trainer mr smith use to tell us to workout running with a rope so none of us would stay behind and do indian runs and run with a leader the then have the leader go to the back and have the next one in line to lead the rest so on he was a amazing inspiration in my life and SRLA but first of all i want to thank God for always being with me... when all the work had paid off finally the day before the marathon time to got to the Los Angeles Convention center! time to get my bib we got some gear i remmeber that same day when we were going to Fat burger to eat a nice fresh burger because of course i need some calorries to burn durring the marathon with some nice fries haha susanas mom her mom she was nice enough to pay for me i looked at her and smiled thanks she looeked happy i was excited allready thinking and tomorrow... the night finally came and a friend brought me home Alfredo's dad i waved and smiled and said Bye! i walked inside and my mom told me how it went i said it went great! i got home sat down and reat the cattalog i got the convention center it read Asics LA MARATHON i was allready pumped to go... the next day a awesome sunday i woke up at 5:00 my daddy drove me to school and talked to me that everyone thing was going to be fine me and my dad said a prayer ... he had bought me some headphones to run with a few days before so i was happpy ... at school... i get out of the car... my dad gets going... i just realized i forgot my permission slip i got signed in the car i quicly got a friend to call my dad and put me on the line... i said hey dad i forgot the permission slip in the back seat the good thing was that he took a u turn he had not left competly he came back i got it and turned it in i was releived i had everything taken care off ... the sun was allready coming out ... as the bus arrives my coach began to count each one of us to take role we started to walk in the bus... finally 45 minutes later my adrenaline started pumping... as i saw the LA Dogers statium which was the Start line for some reason once the moment of truth happend i began to doubt but i let it out of mind i looked all around me and saw nothing but athletes this was like 2 hours later of course we werent going to start running just when we got their lol. i began to jog and i met amazing people i ran smoothly nothing bad happend i was surprised i dident get cramps miles miles later in mile 18 i thought idd get a crap but i felt great at the point i thought i was going to give up but u kept going... around mile 24 my bottom of my feet were almost completly tired i began to walk i couldent take it i ran and stopped but i kept going i met mile 25 i bumped into some a SRLA coach at this point i could allready see the finish line from really far away and i deciced to finish strong i ran and i ran i was achcking but i got through it once i was passed it i was so happy and for a second i wanted to hug my parents but i forgot sadly they couldnet but i dident let that ruin my day well the deal was i was told i had to walk a extra mile lol just to get my marathon Finisher jacket but hey i was happy i had finished it God you were allways with me till now you havent failed me the next day i showed up at school with the medal the students who doubted me looked at me and felt bad... they never said a word to me again it doesent matter how weird you run becuase i got made fun of for running becuase i have a running posture and and becuase i look like im about to fall every time i run well i felt amazing many months later i got on a scale and i saw i had lost 20 pounds this was 1 year dedication and till now im still running! never been so satisfied with my body... Dont let the negative voices ocupy your mind! put on those ear buds and feel the music and get motivation! dont feel discuraged Gods with you! Christian music inspirational and upbeat music always helped me! Keep going and dont give up i hope my story inpacted your life! WOW! So proud of you! My brother-in-law from upstate, New York runs the LA marathon every year, for over 20 yrs! He's still in LA.
