YShibata's Journal, 04 Oct 07

I was very disheartened when I went to see the Dr. and learned I had gained weight despite watching everything I ate and excercising like mad so I decided to measure myself and what a surprise! I've lost 3 1/2 inches in my waist and 2 inches in my hips even though I've gained weight! I've heard muscle weighs more but this was extremely surprising because I had compared my measurements from 9/30/06 when I weighed 155 lbs! So, even though I weigh 14 lbs more, I'm smaller!!! Go figure!!! I've decided that rather than set my goal for a specific weight, I'm going for measurement goals which I think are attainable even if I weigh the same. I'm definitely going to keep excercising, it does make me feel better as well as watching what I eat. My goal is to get to a size 8 by my 49th birthday in April. Wish me luck! Luck to everyone here too!
76.7 kg Lost so far: 0.9 kg.    Still to go: 20.9 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.
Gaining 6.4 kg a Week

Congrats on the measurements, you are probably smaller and healthier. I'm not sure about those 14 pounds though. ;-) Body weight is only one component of total health. More exercise is the direction I am moving into now; but, it has to be sustainable and enjoyable. Keep up the good work YShibata!

Congrats! I often pay more attention to how my clothes are fitting vs. the number on the scale. It's all about feeling healthy and making smarter choices! Keep up the good work!

yep yep, while muscle weighs more than fat, it burns more calories when you're working out. like more bang for your buck! include in the routine toning exercises like yoga to balance out. ganbatte!
