For some reason, i have been unable to follow my diet for the last month. Could be that February is a difficult month here.

I make no secret of the fact that I am addicted to sugar. Seems that now I will have to take ALL sweeteners out of my diet. PERIOD. I suppose when I eliminate all sweeteners it will be much easier.

I keep thinking that it time to join OA. I have suffered from depression for many, many years. Never could get the meds right so I just gave up on them. Eating was so much easier and readily available. Food is the friend that won't let you down. Maybe it is time for a support group. Hearing other people who have learned to deal with overeating may be the answer.

Yeh. It's a tough one... joining a face-to-face group can be VERY helpful. I was in TOPS for a couple of (non-contiguous) years, and it really does make a difference when you feel *accountable* to the group somehow. Good luck, Wes.

I've been having trouble controlling my eating recently, too. I feel hypocritical giving advice while I'm not succeeding, but maybe it will help. I don't think it is reasonable to change eating habits and keep everything else the same. It is too hard. My goal is to fill my life with other things that I enjoy. I do believe that it is important to not punish yourself - I know that just makes me want food more. It is up to us to take control of our lives, but I don't think any of us gave ourselves eating problems. Get mad at the world for what it has done to you. Forgive yourself, try to make easy adjustments, and do more things away from food. Also, Atkins is great for some people, but it isn't magic. When I tried Atkins (and stuck to it very well) - I was miserable and lost very little weight.

Support groups help tremendously. So do accountability partners. I cannot do this alone. Have you tried L-glutamine powder for sugar cravings? Works like a charm! Put under your tongue and let disolve, then drink a bit of water. Try fresh or (my favorite) frozen fruit instead of sugar. And, Jneville's advice was right on! Also, since you struggled to get meds correct, have you tried 5-http, and DLPA? Both natural amino acids that boost serotonin levels, and increase feelings of well-being.

Thanks for the support. I think I needed to vent more than anything, I seem to be back on track, for a while.
