Vacation is over....and I was sooooo nervous stepping on the scale this morning. I was all prepared for the "time for a troop surge" speech I would have to give myself...instead I was pleasantly surprised I actually lost 1.5 pounds. Whew! What a relief. On the trip I ate mostly JC, except for about 4 meals. And I guess all the walking around (the zoo, sea world, etc) helped. I didn't have any alcohol so that is probably what helped the most. Either way, I hope to go under 200 by October 31st so I have my work cut out for me! I'll do an official weigh-in tomorrow after my Jenny appointment. Cheers everyone!

So, food and vacation are kind of married. I've learned through this experiement in San Diego that part of what makes a vacation FEEL like a vacation is eating -- whether it be the buffet on the beach with bonfire roasted marshmallows, or just trying the "best" local restaurant in the new spot. We have had a good time in San Diego but it seems like I have so much time on my hands when I'm not focused on tracking down a great place to have breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. I took my 9 month old son to the World Famous San Diego Zoo yesterday and was appalled by the menu choices. When I prepped us for the outing, I felt for sure I'd be able to buy a salad there to eat with my JC tuna salad and crackers. Also, maybe a banana or yogurt for my son. Nope. All they sell there to eat is hotdog, cheeseburger, hamburgers, nachos and 8 other items offering some combination of fried food or chili. It was ironic--the zoo is ultra-concerned with the diet of the animals and it is extremely healthy and purified. But the $hit they offer the humans at $10 a pop is utterly ridiculous. We've still managed to have a nice time despite the food restriction (I brought most of my food with me, in fact) and the upshot is that I've felt very liberated from the long stretches sitting in restaurants that formerly characterized vacations and many forlorn feelings about missing local attractions and museums due to "lack of time." Also I've not been bloated which also seems to be a friend of the vacation of my past. The problem, though, is that my stomach has been growling and revolting the whole time because it seems to think it's on vacation too. It's been a battle....
Also, this is strange. I ate off the menu twice for dinner since I've been here and both days afterward I've woken up with a--well, hangover? No alcohol, mind you. Just woken up with a sort of naggy headache and flippy stomach. The same thing happened to me after I ate at a wedding a few weeks ago. All I had was salad (with a JC dressing I snuck in) and chicken. But all three times I've gotten a headache. I've started to become paranoid that Jenny Craig food might be addictive...is that crazy? Could my symptoms be some slight withdrawals? Has anyone else who is doing Jenny for all three meals a day have a similar experience?

Black Pants! Today I was finally able to comfortably button a pair of black pants I bought at the beginning of the Summer (foolishly thinking they'd fit). I wore them quite comfortably all day to the San Diego zoo. It was really nice to see such a grounded indicator of progress. The number on the scale starts to feel theorhetical after a while...I dunno. It was a small milestone. Next will be my pre-pregnancy jeans by True Religion, or the brazillian ones I bought in Chicago and can't find anywhere since. I can't wait!
Tomorrow we're off to La Jolla for some proper shopping. I think I'll buy something beautiful for the Fall in a couple sizes too small -- that way it will be that much better when I fit it.
Cheers (using diet coke or water, of course)

What's your favorite? I don't think I've tried all of the different food options yet, so I figured I'd ask around. Today I tried the beef and lentils for the first time and it was really good. Also, I recently had the stuffed potato lunch and it was the BOMB. Both of these items I'd sort of been avoiding because they sounded to me like they wouldn't be satisfying enough. Also, I've discovered that, if I don't eat it with a fork, it doesn't do the trick for me. For instance, having the stuffed chicken sandwich for lunch leaves me totally starving. I can get by here and there with the turkey burger if I have a big salad but honestly, some of the lunches just seem so tiny....What's everybody's favorite?

Going on a trip this week - hope it isn't too much of a pain to work the food into my vacation. I plan to walk a lot and spend a lot of time on the beach with my son. As of today I was 222, I think I might have been less tomorrow but for this week I'll weigh in a bit early :) Definitely slowed into more steady loss. But, almost 30 lbs at this point! Woo Hoo!
