Multiplicity1's Journal, 16 Mar 10

Thanks everyone for all the support yesterday. I am doing much better today. I did however eat too many calories today. I've only eaten a little over 6 total carbs but my calories are over 1900. Now I remember why I don't eat much cheese. And I haven't yet made that homemade mayonnaise (I know adrianna regular mayonnaise isn't allowed in Atkins). I did manage to exercise for 20 minutes and my attitude is much better. My blood sugar was down around 76 before I started to walk which is why I ate the cheese (I managed to avoid eating nuts). Several of the things I was eating I'm not supposed to eat (sausage, Hotdogs, Spam) so I have to find some new foods to eat that are easy to fix. I printed some recipes out of my cookbook today so that is a start. I realized today that I don't miss bread! I was amazed! I also don't miss candy or cake or any of the other sugary things I used to snack on. The other night when we ate out my daughter and a man next to us ate nachos which was my favorite meal at the restaurant and I noticed he left half of them on his plate uneaten. But the surprising part was that I realized I didn't even want the food. As a matter of fact the only difficulty w/food I am having is that I stay so full sometimes it's hard to eat everything I'm supposed to eat especially the protein. My ketones are dark purple as usual. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Whats wrong with store bought Mayo? I use Hellmans all the time it's 0 carbs, I've never heard, nor read that you have to make your own mayo!

Regular mayonnaise has sugar in it.

There is no sugar in my Hellman's. Regular Salad dressing has sugar but alot of Mayonaise do not! I just checked the Kraft brand that your using, it has 0 sugars in it! So go ahead and use it!

If you find a substitute for Spam, please let me know. That (along with cheese cubes) are my two staples on Atkins. I just realized yesterday that it is probably one of those 'processed' meat foods I shouldn't eat... but I think I'm hooked! So good for you for passing over it!

Hi there! Here's the nutritional data for Spam. Worthwhile joining this site (Nutritiondata.com) to check stuff you're not sure about. I agree regarding Hellman's regular. It's OK to use (but watch the calories). Also it's OK to make your own French dressing in moderation (4 parts oil, 1 part vinegar, teaspoon or so of mustard, herbs, garlic whatever... shake it up and there you go!). Anyway, here's the nutrition link: http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/sausages-and-luncheon-meats/1472/2 Good luck! Christine

I agree about Hellmans not having any sugars. I was using this to up my calories and then when I was glancing in the new Atkins book it said to try to use the mayo made with the canola or olive oil. Its lower calorie but better fat for you.
