i am in conflict with this diet i have been reading things that people are eating and then i listen to other people that are also doing it follow what is in the meal plan and they are conflicting one says eat this another says eat that i read one thing that says "Intake is restricted to 20 grams of carbohydrates a day at most, and if a certain food is not on your Induction diet, you are to have absolutely NONE of it (http://www.atkinscenter.com). In this stage no fruit, bread, grains, starchy vegetables, or dairy products other than cheese, cream, or butter are allowed. A weight loss of 5 pounds or more a week is not unusual in this stage. In the following 3 stages, Ongoing weight loss stage, Pre-maintenance stage, and Maintenance stage, more carbohydrates are slowly added into the diet and more deviations are allowed from the original "no-no" list. The goal of the final stage, Maintenance, is to teach the dieter what level of carbohydrate consumption he or she can manage without weight gain." so i am wondering if this is what i have to do to make this work

Hey Dixieliebz, I feel similar to you in that I was getting conflicting messages and info too. And, I went crazy with the Atkins goodies. LOL, figured if it said Atkins on it, it was free and also went a little crazy with the broccoli...again, thinking how bad can a green veggie be. BUT, then I went to the atkins site and focused only on induction. READ the rules again, and printed the list of acceptable veggies and food. I finally understood that I CANNOT eat all the Atkins goodies I want NOR can I eat unlimited broccoli. So now I have refocused. I think the first week was hard for me. But now I got the rules and I am ready to play the game because I need to. No one else can do this for me. So what I do is eat three meals a day. Breakfast is bacon and eggs with cheese and hot sauce. EZ and yummy, and so carb limited. Lunch is usually some kind of meat ( I have an office job, so I go for convenience) Yesterday I slipped away to McD's to get the dollar double cheeseburger, scraped off the pickle (who needs it) and through aweay the stupid bun, and just ate the meat and cheese. Today I have rotisserie chicken I brought from home. Also, I keep cheese and turkey in my office refrig for emergencies. So that is lunch for me. Dinner, I try to eat close to what I am feeding the hubby so I dont get him freaked out about diet stuff. Last night I gave him turkey and stuffing (instant) green beans and some sauce over it all, with a side of cranberry sauce. I had Turkey. all that other stuff has stuff in it that is harmful for me. So that is MY three meals. I drink a ton of water...I just love it. And the morning is filled with cups of black coffee (the way I like it.) Two snacks per day, are usually an Atkins bar or something else. I started with three Atkins bars a day ( I am a chocolholic) but I learned that was hurting me. So I cut back to two. Now I am trying to cope with ONE!!! I need this to work. Today my snack so far was an avocado with mayonnaise...I LOVE avocados. In the evening, I have cup of warmed almond milk. I just NEED something and I love warmed milk. I have given up the real milk during induction and am acquiring a taste for the almond milk. I bought a bottle of sugar free chocolate syrup yesterday (hersheys's) and am going to use it in my milk tonite. A treat to look forward to. So anyway, Buddy, that is what is working for me. I am not going to deviate from the induction list. And I will probably stay in induction for a while. If I get the urge to cheat, then maybe I will look at OWL. But my first two week period ends this saturday and I wont look at anything outside induction. Hope this helps a bit.

OH, and another treat I have waiting for me is celery with whipped cream cheese. It was recommended by one of my buddies so that will be a yummy treat.

Rockseer, you did a great job, sounds like you have a good idea what Atkins is all about. Dixie, the best advise is to be found at Atkins.com. It is the only advice you should follow. Make it your own. Rockseer's advice is great and she is working the plan for herself. That's the best advice - Atkins.com We all work the plan differently. Is it right, probbaly not, does it work, for most of us yes. Do the 2 weeks of induction 'clean' as people say, stick directly to the rules and then you can 'play' a little bit and still succeed. Good luck.
