Day 5 and still following the diet 100%. This has been really easy this time! Last Diet Coke I had was on Wednesday, and only because I had a massive headache. So now, I think I'm past the caffeine withdrawals! Thank goodness! And I really feel great. I'm getting up earlier, and don't feel the need for a nap! I still have problems going into the store. I want to grab all the things I can't have, which I end up getting for everyone else here, but haven't messed up and eaten anything I'm not supposed to, and I'm not going to mess it up now! Too much progress. Can't wait to see my results in a few days! Did 100 crunches and 100 push-ups. Crunches are no problem, but I did struggle with the push-ups. It'll get easier, the more I do.

Hey i am replying to your comment on my Journal. Yeah in Induction you are not suppose to have any cupcakes, sugar free or not! You are ONLY suppose to have whats on the Acceptable Foods list! And about sugar alcohols i have no clue! lol If you find any answers let me know!

After you get past the withdrawls, things will get a lot easier and you'll feel more in charge and healthier! As to the sugar alcohols... these are in your low carb snack bars and candy... they are "supposed" to cancel out some of your carbs. I personally don't like to buy things with it b/c it has some very uncomfortable side effects. Some people believe that sugar alcohols (also known as polyol or maltitol)are non-impact carbs. For example... the glycemic value of maltitol is like 53... that's pretty high and will spike your blood sugar... leading (in my opinion) you right back to craving sugar all over again. These sugar alcohols are also not absorbed entirely ... leading you to what I mentioned above, the side effects. They have a laxative effect on your system leaving you with cramping, bloatedness, and gas... NOT PRETTY! For a list of the acceptable food items on atkins, you can find it in your book... or check out the atkins website.

oh... and if you're gonna have these things.. save them for special occasions... or when you KNOW you are at your wits end and if you don't have something, you'll fall off the wagon & watch the portions!! =)

Thanks y'all! But darn. I was so hoping to eat some sugar free cupcakes or candy. Better not. I don't want to blow this. I've made too much progress.
