Multiplicity1's Journal, 17 Jun 10

Today my husband and I wrote our vows for the vow renewal - this is what we wrote. Mine - We are starting anew. We have been through many things together in life since we were first married - some wonderful, some difficult. We have been through a flood in Chicago, an earthquake in Washington, a hurricane in Charleston, 6 month military deployments, the start of a war, illnesses, operations, trips to the mental hospital, bankruptcy, addiction, a year long separation, the birth of our second daughter, the raising of both our daughters, high school and college graduations, graduate school, job losses and gains and successes, recovery and now our vow renewal. You are my best friend and equal partner. I promise to be kind, unselfish, respectful, loyal and honest so our dreams of a beautiful future can come true. I promise to comfort you in times of distress to be ever forgiving and to grow with you in mind and spirit as I encourage you to achieve all your gaols and dreams. My love will always be a safe haven for you.
His - Andrea, You are my best friend. We have been through a lot together, separation during a hurricane, military deployments including a war, two earthquakes, raising two girls, bankruptcy, health challenges, loss of job on several occasions, addictions and the road to recovery, moving numerous times, a separation and reconciling our differences. I promise to love you and care for you. I pledge to give you the same happiness and respect that you give me, to share the same dreams and goals. I promise to bring you joy and to be at home with your spirit. Because of you, we can laugh, smile and dare to dream. I promise to comfort you in times of distress and encourage you to achieve your goals and pursue your dreams. God will help us to become one in spirit. Both - we promise to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer, for better or worse, and forsaking all others keep yourself only onto him(her). We do.
This is the most important thing I did today so I decided to share it.

Oh,Andrea! Those have got to be the most beautiful vows I've heard. There is something so precious about love that,s been refined by the fires of struggle and strife. May God richly bless you both.

22 years, wow!!. You have been through so much and still so in love. I can only hope to find someone that special and love them that much and have them love me back. It's awesome to know there are people out there that actually make it through the hard times. This is so inspiring. I hope your day is as beautiful and wonderful as your marriage. Please share photos. I know they will be gorgeous.

Those are fantastic vows! I hope Kent and I make it that long! We've been together 5 1/2 years 3 of which have been married still no fight! We did split and see others for a few months in there and after that is when he proposed to me telling me he couldn't replace me! These sweet men are to be cherished!
