Prairie Grandma's Journal, 08 Dec 17

Just had to figure me out, by the looks of it. 2 weeks ago I looked at my diet plan and eating habits. Decided to throw away all the books and advice and think about what sabatoges me. Bread, pasta, sweets (especially now with all the Christmas baking), exercise (my determination).

Decided that I needed to let go of all that and "do my thing". So, I make a sandwich every morning (salmon & lettuce, or tomato, or ground meat with gravy tomatoes & lettuc, etc.). The BIGGY for me is the time factor. I need something to get me going every morning so allow myself 1/4 of that sandwich. I'm hungry 11ish so allow myself 1/4 sandwich. I'm hungry around 1:30- 2 so allow myself 1/4sandwich. I need an evening snack (if I don't want myself getting out of bed at 2 am to eat junk) so I allow myself the last 1/4 sandwich. In between, I have an evening meal (measured) of whatever I'm making that night. Last night we had hamburger stew but I chose not to have any potatoes, onions, meat. I picked out the carrots, brussel sprouts, celery with enough gravy to cover a slice of weightwatchers bread. The night before it was cabbage roll casserole trying to get more cabbage than rice, but not sweating it).

The other part of this is that I have been doing the treadmill every day (giving myself permission to take a day off if there are other physical activities happening), changing my challenge to self to either increase speed, time, or calories burned. I also mix up 1/4 cup APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, 1/4 cup REALEMON, 1 cup APPLE JUICE, and water to fill up a juice jug, topping it up a few times a day with water.

It's working for me! I encourage others to do the same, team up with your body instead of fighting it.

Thank you for the comments. Encouraging to hear of others struggles and keeps me on track on those blah days.
