I think I'm going to invest in a good scale. My numbers are up and down a little every day. It's an electrial one run by battery so I'm not sure how accurate it is once the battery starts declining. Now it could be I'm all worked up over nothing and if that's the case, I'll take these nubmers, I just hope they're correct!

Remember though, it is natural for your body weight to fluctuate all throughout the day.

Farrelle, I've had the same concerns about my own scale. HCB is correct about natural body weight fluctuations, I like the reduced flucuations best!

LOL - "reduced fluctuations" that is funny! Look for a downward trend
|
I'll keep that in mind HCB. When I was the hotel gym, they had a big scale like in the doctor's office and my weight was way lower than my home scale. It got me thinking ... The water weight is another fact I need to take into consideration.

Your weight can fluctuate on a daily basis, sometimes up, sometimes down. The key is to look at the longer term trend to make sure it's going down. I think my normal daily fluctuations can range around +/- 4 lbs.

The best is to take a number everyday, say for a week. And find the average. And use that number.

I agree that the trend is what's important and your weight will naturally fluctuate throughout the day.
But I personally decided to buy a new scale after weighing myself 3 times (in the space of less than 2 minutes) with a range of about 7 pounds. For a while I would just do it a few times and take the average, but I got tired of never really knowing which number was right.

It is not unusual for weight to fluctuate a fair amount. I post a weeks weigh-ins on my journal every week when I weigh in here. The overall trend should be in the direction you want it to be.

I check my weight daily. My scale varies about .2 of a pound. I weigh myself 3 times. Two usually are the same. I go with the average. Seven pounds is a lot of variance.

You can find really nice digital scales at Walmart. I got mine online with pickup at the store for under $20
