Good Luck with your surgery. I had my achillis tendon reattached and I was down for 8 months. My hubby found me a little scooter that we rented by the month and I could put my bad leg on it and go wherever I needed to go in or out of the house ,with out putting pressure on my foot. It was a real blessing . You may be able to exercise your upper body by using it.

Praying all goes well with your surgery. My one brother used to get stuck to the bottom of the tub when he took a shower because his feet were so flat. He used to make jokes about it. Just a suggestion: use various weights to do upper body strengthening. Dumbbells come in different weights to challenge you. There are a lot of different moves you can do with the weights. Twists while sitting will help as well as leg lifts including knee bends. Good luck!

First Paskwali, wishing you best of luck! I can't imagine how uncomfortable it has been for you doing the kind of work that you do. No suggestions for the exercises - but I'm wondering what you might find online for paraplegics? I'm also taking a guess that there will be some serious physical therapy in your future. You might want to ask your doc if PT is planned and if so, who is recommended. I'm thinking you might be able to talk to the physical therapist re: any suggestions they might have. Seems VERY smart of you to be thinking of this now so you'll be able to keep as fit and in shape as possible.

The main thing is to get well, and do what you can. Maybe you can do some "chair" exercises that they have on DVD's. Check out Collagevideo.com, as they have some good ones. Wishing you a successful surgery.

Hope everything goes well. I don't even want to go see a foot doctor for bone spurs

Hey Guy... you'll be in our prayers. My niece had the same exact surgery done and couldn't be happier. She's in her 40's and you're young. You'll get through this in no time. If there is PT, please stick with it. Be well.

perhaps you can do leg lifts (while lying on your back) to help your circulation?
