I think, if kids are going to have end-of-year field trips to theme parks 2 hours away, the parents shouldn't have to get up at ridiculously early hours to get them to school. The bus should come pick them up at their houses. Just sayin'.

I agree. My daughter had a field trip to Tallahassee a few years ago which is like a 3-4 hour drive and they had to be at school at 5am and weren't back til 9:30pm. This was also on a weekday so it through everyone's schedule off. At least its just a one day event.

I was always one of those mom's that went with them...like a supervisor. I think I enjoyed the trips as much as them..try sleeping on the floor of a gym with about 30 of them..I really did like it. :)

Lenny, you're a stronger woman than me. The thought of that makes me shudder. :)

We always had these trips, especially for show choir where they would have to leave at 3 am and not get back until 11 pm. Band trips were the same, and then often times they were 2-3 hours late getting back and since the kids weren't allowed to hve cell phones, there was no way to find out if they were okay. They really need to plan a little better.

HA! some of my best memories from HS were those band trips and my parents were the ones honking and following the buses and even if we were driving straight from a football game through the night to get to a competition the next day they were there.. they make for great memories for us kids.

My husband has told me many stories from his high school days about what happens at the back of the band bus...thankfully my daughter plays basketball and won't have time for band when she hits high school! :P
