No change to report here. At least, according to the scale. I have been walking. And I have been cutting back on my food intake. I feel like I've lost a little weight. But the scale says I'm still hovering around 253 pounds. And that's OK for now. I'm attending Overeaters Anonymous meetings, and I'm getting a lot out of them. But I'm at the very beginning of my recovery in OA, and I've got a long way to go. I figure that, weight loss will be a positive side effect of the things I do in OA, but it's not the one and only "goal" I have for the program. I've also discovered stevia, a kind of no-calorie (all natural) sweetener. I made my first pitcher today of iced tea with stevia, and it's pretty good stuff. Should go a long way to help with my sweet-drink cravings, especially since there are NO CALORIES. There's even a soda made with stevia (http://www.zevia.com/) and I'm going to try and pick some up later this week.

Been awhile since I've weighed in. Not surprised to see my weight still hanging around the 253 mark. I had a doctor's appointment last week, and naturally, my doctor wants me to lose weight. To that end, I've been attending Overeaters Anonymous meetings for a little over a month now. I really believe that this is the help I need to change my eating behavior. I am a Compulsive Overeater. Yes, a Food Addict. That's why diet books and plans and charts and all that haven't worked for me, and probably never will. I'm only in the beginning of my recovery, but it feels really good. I've even managed to cut back on the constant overeating, and I find myself being way more conscious about my food decisions. I'm also in the process of getting a membership at the YMCA. I've put in a financial aid application, in the hopes that I can get a reduced rate for membership. Even if I can't, I'll still join. It may just take a little longer to get the money together. Anyway, I see all of this as very positive, and I hope to have better results in future weigh-ins and updates.

I've dropped two pounds since the last weigh-in. I'd say that's good news, but it seems like I've been hovering 'round the 251-253 mark for awhile. I've been taking three to four mile walks at least four days a week, and I'm starting to wonder if I need more challenging exercise. Of course, I suppose that my diet could be better. But overall, I don't think it's that bad. I mentioned in my last post that I'm considering Overeaters Anonymous, and I still am. I'm planning on attending a meeting this Thursday. I have mixed feelings about some of the requirements of 12-step programs, but it seems like it's a good place to start. Even if I don't become an OA lifer, I'm sure I can still gain some knowledge about how to deal with this problem. I'm also going to look into a YMCA membership so I can get access to their fitness equipment. My local Y is only a few blocks away, so it'd be a convenient place to go and get in some good workout time.
