WoW! I can't believe a month has passed since my last journal entry. I have been weighing myself but not recording food and 243 is pretty accurate.
I have felt particularly challenged this month--not an excuse--just the truth. Here in Maine we have had the worst spring in a long time. It rained--not constantly-but there was no sun either-- for more than 19 days. And chilly. I just could not get into the swing of walking, etc. To make matters worse I pulled a muscle in my right shoulder and upper back the beginning of April and by the middle of the month I was miserable. All the things I like to do (writing, reading, knitting) require neck bending...thus constantly reinjuring my the muscle and giving me serious headaches.
Last Sunday was a triple whammy for pigging out: mother's day, my birthday, and my middle daughter's college graduation--at 39--and summa cum laude. If anyone reads this post and wonder if you should finish a degree--do it. K. graduated summa cum laude ( :-) ) from the on-line program at Southern New Hampshire University. It has one of the largest and most respected on-line programs in the world. There were 4 graduation ceremonies in an arena now owned by SNHU in Manchester NH, seating about 1700 graduates on the floor. We live close enough to go. The ceremony was also broadcast to some of SNHU's remove sites, i.e. a refugee camp in Africa. That comes to approximately 7500 graduates (some from the campus) + may watching elsewhere. People came from all over the world. The person sitting next to K. was from Africa!
If there has been anything good about the last month it is that I have cut my alcohol intake by about 85%. Even when not recording calories I tend to keep a running guesstimate in my head, but the main reason was wine made my headache worse!
I feel like I am back on track now. Next weigh in with doctor on Thursday the 23rd! We'll see how it goes.

I just returned home from spending 2 weeks in Florida with a friend. She is doing a keto program, following it so carefully she found new ways to cook riced cauliflower. We both started about the same time and we both have lost about the same weight. I am down 20 pounds as of this morning. My biggest downfall is alcohol, and it flows freely among the people with whom I am friends. Interestingly, I found 2 martinis was plenty whereas before I might want 3 glasses of wine. Not that we drank every day. I didn't want to gain weight instead I was at my usual 2 pounds a week. I walked and swam and played in the pool with her grandchildren.
Perhaps the best part was being able to fit into something from a store I've never been able to buy anything from a purchase pants in a smaller than previous size. A great encouragement.

I started to cough Wednesday afternoon. By 5 I was in bed. Spent most yesterday and today in bed. Emergen-C thows off my calorie count. I spent most of the last 2 days in bed. I have too many things to do get ready to go on vacation to be sick now. At this rate I am going to need some snaps! I gav up whining for Lent. the other kind (sorta) too. I am trying to remind myself this is a process.
