Day 4 on Atkins, still feeling good. I had a very busy day today. We were invited to a Halloween party to our friends house, so I had to cook and bake for the party. I went to the gym in the morning and got 30 min intense cardio and 35 min weight lifting working my arms, back and legs. I baked two different kinds of brownies, made chocolate ghosts, tried to make chicken wings but did not succeed, so I ended up going to a Safeway store and buying chicken wings in there. Of course I was stressed out and running late, but we made it. I ate what I planned during a day but did not have time for dinner. I took my shake with me to the party and that was my meal and my treat. I was good, did not try any of the brownies or chocolate frosting or candy my daughter brought home.
I lost count how many glasses of water I had, guessing 13-14 at least. I did a little research online about protein intake and found out that it takes more water to metabolize proteins; this is why I drink much more now. I feel satisfied and not hungry at all, dont have any cravings, my blood sugar stays stable (fasting sugar was 112, before bed - 114). I am still guessing if I have reached that ketosis phase yet, but I am losing weight and that what matters.

Today was my third day on Atkins diet. I feel great!!! I still feel hungry in the afternoon around 2-3 pm and have to distruct myself from thinking about food till 4 when I eat my snack. I am never hungry for dinner though. I eat because I know I have too to keep my energy level even and be able to workout in the evening. I want to weight meself today and see if there is any difference from tomorrow. I took my mesearments too, but I have to wait to see any changes in there. Some people dont recommend to weight in that often but when I am loosing weight I see smaller numbers every day. Atkins diet is great for people like me because when you dont cheat and work out you see results right away, especially during Phase 1.

Good luck to all dieters!!!

Before bed:
I weighted myself in the gym tonight and I was 2.8 pound lighter. I will not record this weight yet, need to make sure it's right. I did 50 min of walking on a treadmill with little incline (started with 3.0 and ended with 5.0) and my comfortable speed 3.5 mph. I don't count todays workout as my cardio, not enough intensity, so I have 3 more days to complete my goal for a week.

29 October 2008

Today was my second day on Atkins. Despite my fears it is easier to follow than I thought. I try to watch amount of fat as well as carbs (of course!!!). I feel great. I was afraid that for the first three days it would be difficult to fight those cravings and headaches and dizziness but not at all!!! I felt a little bit dizzie in the afternoon on my first day but that is about it. I check my blood sugar at least once a day and track my food/exercise/feelings/cravings in my journal during a day. I plan my food a day ahead with 3 meals and 2 snacks. The only variety I get is from veggies and that is very limited. I eat 1 tomato and a handfull of radishes during a day, 1/2 avocado and about 100 g asparagus for dinner. I substitude 1/2 bell pepper for radishes or tomato, broccoli or cabbage for asparagus. I hope it will get easier along the way and I will be able to reach my goal and see the results I want. I had a session with my trainer and am trying to build up my cardio minutes. I decided to start slow but steady :))) I do 25 min of cardio a day w/2 rest days a week. If I feel like I want to do more - I go for it. Sometimes more intense cardio but same time. Well there are alot of chances out there to keep me going. I can feel my muscles underneath that fat but I can't see them... YET. With the Atkins diet I will be melting that fat in no time.

Good luck to me and to everybody strating Atkins.

15 October 2008

I met my goals today. DId 45 min of cardio, 1 hour of weight training with my trainer, and have been busy all day with getting my car fixed, going to a teacher-parent conference and exercising. It was difficult to eat small meals often because either I was out running errands or I was so hungry and did not want to think what to fix fast. I did manage to stay on track afterall and am proud of myself.
My daughter starts her orchestra tomorrow which means We have to be at school by 7:15 am which means I have to wake at 5:30 and leave no later than 7 am. That is not a problem but I have to pick another girl up at 8 am, so I have maybe 20-25 min in the morning when I dont know what to do. I will try to go to the gym and just walk on a treadmil, cause I dont want to get all sweaty and then go to work. I will not have time to take a shower after my workout, so no heavy exercise. I wanted to take a rest day tomorrow; I sure need it. So I still dont know what to do.

Goals for tomorrow:
1. Sleep at least 7 hours at night
2. Stay in 1150-1250 Cal range.
3. Only easy to moderate walking 30-45 min (any time of the day).

14 October 2008

I would say I met my goals today. I did 40 min of cardio (20 min on a treadmil incline walking and 20 min on a bicycle) and I ate almost what I planned. I think I stayed in my calorie range but I did not drink the shake and ate chocolate covered hazelnuts instead. I ate only 5 or 6 and there was not much chocolate. Anyway, I did good.
My fasting sugar was better - 114. I hope it will be even lower tomorrow. I have to stick to my diet plan at least for a week to see some results if any. I think it works for me. I dont have any ups and downs, dont feel very hungry and even have to remind myself to eat my meals. If I dont eat then I get very hungry and then it takes a lot of food to satisfy my appetite. I want to take a short trip in 2 months and I want to look my best. It will be my motivation to stay focused and eat right.
Goals for tomorrow:
1. Do at least 30 min cardio (any time)
2. Weight training with Tarry
3. Stay in my calorie range (1150-1250)
