I've used my Wii Fit Plus for 9 days straight now. I'm excited about that, yet not so excited that I've weighed in every day for 9 days straight. I've gained 2 lbs! I hate watching that little line on the graph go up! I didn't eat very well this weekend, but I did have a deficit (even if it was a small one) every day. So, I've come to the conclusion that a lot of it is due to beer :-( I drank at a party on Friday night and again at the fireworks display on Sunday. I'm supposed to go to trivia tonight and I'm debating if I can go to a bar and not drink. If I can't, then I can't go. It's silly, but I feel bad for the waitress if I go and order only water. But that's what I would have to do if I decide to go. We do have a table full of people ordering plenty of drinks and food so I shouldn't feel too bad. But I do. Anyway, here's hoping the weight gain is only temporary and I lose those 2 lbs plus some by Friday's official weigh in!

I just discovered that I love yard work! Who'd a thunk it? The weather is so gorgeous right now and it makes me want to be outside. I'm planting a garden in my front yard. It's not much of a garden yet, I'm still getting it ready. Tonight I tore up the ground and sprayed it to kill all the weeds that were growing there. Tomorrow night I'm going to rake up all of those stupid sweet gum balls in my yard. I really hate those things! I'm burning a lot of calories and making my house look nicer. Double win! Now if I can just get my eating under control again. I seem to have gone crazy with calories the past two weeks. My cruise is in 39 days and I'm nowhere near where I wanted my body to be by now. Gotta work harder!

March is over. I didn't completely accomplish my goals for March but I'm pretty happy with how I did. I wanted to avoid fast food completely - I ate McDonald's once and Sonic once. I wanted to record every calorie that I ate for the month - there were two days (both involving social settings) that I couldn't even begin to figure out how many calories I consumed. But, I definitely did better this month than I did in February and I lost 5 pounds! Bring on April!

I did my first workout wearing my bodybugg and I think I've figured out why I'm not losing as much weight as I thought I should be. I have been wearing a heart rate monitor when I work out for the past couple years and I've been entering the calories that the heart rate monitor says I burn into my exercise diary. Well, today I did 30 minutes on the treadmill followed by 30 minutes on the elliptical. I wore both the bodybugg and the heart rate monitor to compare the numbers. The heart rate monitor said I burned 480 calories. The bodybugg said 276. That is a HUGE difference! But, it makes sense. If I really have been burning that many less calories than I thought I was, I wouldn't be losing as much weight as I had expected. Kind of disappointing. But at least I have some more realistic (at least I think they're more realistic) numbers to work from.

I'm not losing weight! I have completely cut fast food and soda out of my diet and haven't had either for the past two weeks. I'm working out. I'm eating healthy. And my weight continues to bounce between 139.4 and 140.8. I was at 140.0 this morning. I can resist the temptations of cookies and brownies and fast food if I know I'm accomplishing something by doing it. But it's getting harder and harder to say no when I'm not seeing any results. I could understand the numbers not moving on the scale if my clothes were fitting looser. But they're actually feeling tighter! It was a struggle to put my jeans on yesterday.
Okay, now that I've spewed out all of that negativity, it's time for a positive thought. I am seeing an improvement in my heart rate during my workouts. It's not going as high as it used to and it's dropping a little faster when I'm done. Not a huge improvement, but I didn't expect to be in excellent shape after only 3 weeks at the gym. It's a start :-)
