I found out recently that the medicine I am taking has a side effect of weight gain. I eliminated everything carb-y from my diet sticking to cottage cheese, eggs, meats and vegetables and still gained 6 lbs in a two week period. How discouraging. I am still eating healthily, and I plan to talk to my doctor about finding another medicine, or something else.

Gained weight and lost weight. Feeling good about losing, but the old enemy of defeat is creeping in. "So what, you've been here before. You'll just fail again."
Thanks to the suggestions of my supporters, I fight the thoughts. This is first day of the rest of my life. I have good reason to believe I will be successful.
Four years ago, I weighed 340 lbs. I now weight 260. That's 80 lbs!!!! Yes it took a while, but it has been a downward trend in spite of the ups and downs. (Sometimes my ups were greater than my downs.)
I am in a much better place, and the battle goes on. My goal weight is another 100 lbs, but it is doable. Getting to 160 is still not skinny for me, but do I really want skinny or at a healthy weight? A healthy weight!
I liked the suggestion to write down the things about thin people. I think that will help me dispel the sabotaging (sp?)
I enjoyed reading all the comments and suggestions, as well as the encouraging words you all have written. It means a lot. I wish I could be as encouraging to you as you are to me.

Have had a not so good past 3 weeks. Was depressed; slept a lot; gave up on eating right; had an "I don't care" attitude, and an "I don't want to care" attitude to top it off. I gained four pounds. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it feels like 10 pounds. My new sized clothes are fitting too tightly. I feel bloated and am having problems moving around.
I wonder if psychologically I am sabatoging (sp?)my efforts. Am I
subconsciously afraid of being thin? I don't know.
But I'm back on track, now - struggling a little, but still making better choices.
Pray for me. I pray for you guys.
