Yay! I'm down a little over 5 pounds today! Of course, I haven't been eating much. I'm pretty hyped about this "reset" the way I think about food. And I'm actually feeling soooo much better. I don't feel as bloated and uncomfortable. Even my joints aren't hurting as much. I've got a feeling that today's gonna be a good day:-)

Okay...rough couple of days. I didn't totally blow my diet but I didn't exactly stick to it either. Lot of family issues going on and as usual I've let the stress sidetrack me. I've been doing a lot of thinking over the last few weeks about my unhealthy obsession with food and have decided to do something totally different and drastic (at least for me). Tonight I started an "natural foods/organic" type of diet. For the next 8 weeks, I'm only going to eat fresh natural foods. Nothing cooked (except boiled eggs) and nothing boxed or processed. I've never done anything like this before and I'm excited but very nervous. I feel like the reason my diets always succeed for a brief period and then fail is that I'm never dealing with the root of my problem. I think about food ALL of the time, not just often...literally, ALL the time. I've tried Indulgence Day diets (which seem to work really well for some people) but then I just spend the whole week focusing on everything that I want to eat on Indulgence Day. So, for the next 8 weeks, I'm going to use food simply as fuel for my body. It may be a crazy idea, but I'm hoping that I can sort of reboot my brain and change the way I feel about food. I'm sure I'll be on here every day just trying to vent and work through my frustrations. Wish me luck!

Ok...funny story about my walk yesterday. I decided to walk from my house to the mines and back (3 miles round trip). Mistake #1: I wore toning shoes. I've walked all over town in these shoes but we have a gravel road...not the same thing. Mistake #2: I wore a cap. For those of you not in Alabama...it was pretty windy yesterday. Mistake #3: I forgot that I'm 44 years old.
So I'm on my way back from the mines and a big logging truck is barreling towards me. He obviously doesn't see me. At this exact moment, the wind grabs my cap and throws it across the ditch. The ditch is too wide to step across but the truck is still coming so I decided to jump over the ditch (this is where Mistake #3 comes into play). Another thing to note, red clay is very deceiving. It looks all firm and dry when it's actually slimy and wet and mushy.Halfway across, I realized my mistake...too late. As soon as my right foot hit, that toning shoe rolled and twisted my ankle at which point the mud starting sliding. All I could do was throw myself to the right so I wouldn't faceplant. Fortunately, I didn't break anything and the trucker had a good laugh as he passed by me sitting in the mud and waving, he never even slowed down.
