I just learned that I have type 1 diabetes and I need to lose weight to get it under control. I have done weight watchers in the past and learned how to look for foods high in fiber but never gave carbohydrates or sugar a second thought. But now I should eat at each meal no more than 30-45 g of carbohydrates per meal according to the nutritionist I am working with.
I have always been heavy all my life but was able to control it until I retired from the Army. Having someone weigh and tape you kept me thinner. I know turning 50 hasn't helped and I have spent a lot of time away from my family. Now I am commuting four hours a day while working in DC so that is 12 hours in a sitting position. I did just recently join Anytime Fitness so that way I cannot use gym hours as an excuse. I convinced my 16 year old daughter to join me so I have company at the gym.
