Yo-Yo is the story of my life. But I will never stop trying to break that vicious cycle. I've been dieting since the 2nd grade. By the 6th grade I was over 200 lbs.

I'm 5'8" so I never expect to be a size 2 or 125 lbs. But a size 6 at 150 lbs would be perfect for my large bone structure. Sound unattainable? Well, here's my story.

I married at 19 and had the 1st of my 4 kids at 21. From that point on I fluctuated by 40+ lbs averaging at 270 for nearly 2 decades; capping at 301.

In 2004 the doctor told me I was a heart attack waiting to happen. I was only 39. Knowing that my next diet would be no different than the yo-yo result of the previous 50 diets I'd been on, I decided to have gastric bypass surgery (Roux en-Y). I dropped 151 lbs over the next 18 mos, ending 148 lbs; size 6. Plus, I cured my type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure issues. Off all meds except for treatment of hypo-thyroidism. I felt great.

With my new size and outlook, I had the confidence to break out of the prison of my 22-year marriage to an alcoholic mentally abusive husband. That led to a whirl-wind romance with my current husband.

Sounds like a dream come true. Well for whatever the reason, the weight came back on - ~ 50lbs of the 151 lost. I grew from size 6 to size 12. Maybe it was the 2 miscarriages, maybe the failed fertility treatments, or the resulting depression. Regardless, my struggles are back.

I'm trying to stay focused on eating healthy and exercising consistently. Still balancing a full-time job, family, chores, leading a health&fitness ministry at church, and working out is challenging. There is never enough time to do it all.

It is the diet that I struggle with the most and where I need the most support because my relationship to food is more that just nourishment. That didn't change with the surgery. After all, you don't get to 301 lbs without having some type of relationship to food.
