I have been overweight since I was a teenager except for a few brief periods. Those brief periods of being normal weight keep me encouraged enough to keep trying.
A few years ago, I followed a low carb, high protein, high exercise program that had fantastic results, not only in terms of weight loss, but also in blood pressure and blood sugar. I'm one of those who became a type II diabetic... runs in the family. I tend to disagree, however, that genetics has much to do with my being a diabetic. Diets on my mother's side of the family were sugar and starch laden, lots of potatoes, pies, fudge, ice cream. Most of us came down with diabetes in our forties.
I'm 64 now but my WII Fit+ program tells me that my physical age is 73. I don't like that.
