Steven Anthony's Journal, 02 May 18

Day 16 of my 90 day program was a little rough. I woke up hungry first of all, this is never a good sign for me. I was not sure if I ate too many carbs, or too much calories, but I had me a keto-coffee and was all set for my walk. I walked 4 miles in the freezing wind we had yesterday, not too pleasant but doable. (is that a word?)

Planned my food for the day, then got in the kitchen and made something totally different, am I crazy? Still, I waited until nearly 1:00 to eat. Didn't finish my lunch, so on the drive home I munched (weird). When I got home I was full but hungry (again weird) and I ate 8 jalapeno popper halves (I was planning on eating only 4).

So, basically yesterday felt a little "out of control". I'm hoping that today will be different. I'm going to try to stick to the plan and be more mindful. I might even skip dinner or just have tea.

Just when I think I've got it all together, I realize things might go wonky. Today I will pray for more self control and for others who are also striving towards this goal.

As I read your journal post I was thinking "And he ONLY ate 8 jalapeno popper halves? Were there any left? Why stop at ONLY 8?" :) I always seek to be mindful and fail at it as soon as food hits my mouth. I am amazed at your self-control. Something I hope you are grateful for.

I think many of us have those kind of days periodically.I sure do. Tracking my food has really helped me to see where I need to focus in terms of feeling full and satisfied while staying on target. What is working for me is to ensure I eat fairly high volumes of vegetables and leaner proteins every day with enough extras like fat, sauce or spices to ensure I don't feel like I am on a diet.

I would suggest you load your fridge or freezer with low carb items Incase you feel a binge coming on. I had my keto meal yesterday, then an hour later I was hungry again, so I had a large bowl of broccoli and butter! I stayed in ketosis and don’t have the guilty after taste in my brain !

wonky will pass. And I love starting over because it's a clean slate to do it right. And that feels good....

lately I am planning my food but I am not planning when to start eating because I don't want to feel that I have failed, some days I do one meal a day and others two meals , I only eat breakfast on Sundays, I am trying to go as longer as I can without food , when I feel so hungry I do shores , we also have a garden so I go outside to clean my garden, keeping busy helps me with the "food thoughts"

One day at a time. Don't beat yourself up! Take it easy on yourself. You are doing great on your challenge.

we all have those days when we eat the whole bag or box of whatever we find at home.

You walked FOUR MILES!! And on a cup of keto coffee! Of course you are going to be hungry :) Don't beat yourself up. You did great. I love poppers. Now I want to fix some! I don't know what else you "munched" on but I seriously doubt it was over 3500 calories. Kudos in putting in those miles too!!

Hi everyone! Sorry, I didn’t make it back here yesterday. Thanks for commenting. @Jimmiepop, @Athensgym, # DoubleDeedle, broccoli and butter, YES!, @Xray Lady, @Keilin_4 so cool you have a garden, and @Marchakanady thanks for the encouragement! @Kattay, yes, my munching was not outrageous, but it kinda freaked me out that I just could not stop eating those poppers! Thankfully, they are keto.
