I made an improvement today. Becoming more mindful of the calories of foods I take in. It's hard as a southern black woman who grew up eating certain foods (and lots of it!) to suddenly learn that those foods, if not eaten in moderation, can seriously contribute to an unhealthy weight. We ate rice with almost every meal and I carried that habit into my adult life not realizing how it can negatively affect my weight. I can easily eat 2-3 cups of rice easily. I'm not sure that I'll be able to completely cut out rice because I love it oh so much, but I am definitely going to try to make some substitutions or at least limit my portion size. For my dinner tonight, I measured out one cup of rice and I found that I was still satisfied. I think I can, I think I can...
