I found that walking briskly for 1-3 miles a day caused me to really lose weight, but after looking like a chemo patient I opted to lift weights instead. The added muscle helps to burn calories. Keep doing as you are, protein up, bad carbs down. Protein will not fuel muscles so you need some good veggies for fuel. Protein builds them, not build them. I find my workouts suffer when I don't eat enough salads. BTW some good cooked veggies are kale, carrots and sweet potato, just to name a few. Good luck.
