I already know this is hard...hard to read, hard to think about, hard to comprehend. After what I have seen, and listened to in the last 48 hours... I am emotionally drained.
The Center for Exploited and Missing Children in the United States, estimates 150,000 children under the age of 18 - yes, you read that right...
are sold into sex trafficking each year.
OH MY GOD!
So many lives broken.
If I have one take away from this weekend, it is to work towards pressuring local prosecutors' offices to ENFORCE the laws in your state in this regard. Stop treating an underage child as if they have chosen prostitution. THEY are the VICTIM !!! No child (and I am talking very young thru 17) chooses this.. to be sold over and over upwards of 15+ times a day for sex - they receive nothing - no money - nothing - it all goes to the Pimps, the Mob, or whatever power structure is in place that is creating this. They are moved around - ALOT - and let's be very clear... this is happening in EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY US STATE in our country!
Yes, for sure these children need us. But without criminalizing the behavior, and cutting off the DEMAND.. this will continue. This must stop. Men and Women, must speak up and say this is wrong!
