ShyGuy's Journal, 09 Jan 12

Last night, after recording an entry about my fall from grace, I reviewed my journals of the past 6 months. I discovered that everytime I fell off the wagon, it involved eating in a social setting; whether it was going out to breakfast, lunch, or dinner with one of my siblings, or a family gathering. Sometimes I did better than others, sometimes I just crash and burned, and it led to a few days of saying the familiar,"Well, since I've already eaten this, it won't hurt me to eat that". It also led to regret, at not being strong enough to avoid the situation, and having to get back on track. This, flipflopping, is unacceptable. So, for the forseeable future, I'll forego eating out, and do what I know how to do, which is cook for myself. I'll be able to better track what I eat, and stay on plan, without distraction. Oh, and did I mention, inspite of yesterday's fall off the wagon, I'm down 7 pounds since last Wednesday. Hoo Yaa!

Thank you for posting this--that has been the case for me too! Every time I slip up it is because I went out to eat and made poor choices. If I don't have the choice of carbs in front of me, I won't be able to make that choice. So I am cooking at home from now on, at least until i get close to my goal. Congrats on 7 pounds!!

Hey I don't have that problem at all, mine is at home and not eating enough early in the day...have to get over that. But I don't know if this will help you at all, but I decide ahead of time what I am going to eat, you can go online and check out the menus then don't even look at it just order your food not talking about the menu.....and whats on special just say you don't want to know as you are trying to be strict with yourself. Just a thought if you don't want to miss seeing friends and family. Hey congrats on the 7 down, that is awesome.

Thanks ladies. Yvonne, my brother said something similar; '...know what you want to eat before you get there, and stick to the plan'.

I am glad that you lost those 7 lbs. We know our own weaknesses. As we progress and get closer to our goal we will get stronger and stronger.
