Hello All

This will be my sixth time since the age of 17[now 53]losing 75-100 pounds due to pregnancies, depression and an accident. Keeping it off for a few years, then gaining and starting all over. In the past, I was able to go 2-5 years, and keep the weight off. As I have gotten older, I have been struggling after about a year to maintain my weight loss.

My problem in the past was not watching my weight daily. I find that if I don't put myself in check after a 5 pound gain, it all comes back. If I allow myself to flux only 5 pounds up or down, I can keep the weight off for several years.

I do not recommend this diet to anyone, as it abuses your liver and kidneys, without proper water intake, but Atkins is the only diet that works for me, as my AB negative blood type doesn't adjust to carbs. It also cured my diabetes, and have not been on insulin for 30 years. I will keep trying until I maintain a lifetime success. My advice is, never give up, no matter how many times you fail...

Hi, I'm Dave, and just joined a few days ago. Weighed 160 when I got out of the Army around 1980 and now weigh 257! I can't believe it, but there it is on the scale. My doc suggested Atkins for a month and then back off. I really need to lose a chunk of lbs to feel like something is being accomplished. Sounds (and looks by your Weight History) like you are getting some results. I am really feeling desperate and hope this works. I am not getting much support at home with meals cooked with too many carbs even though I try to explain peas, potatoes, rice and bread are not what I need. It's almost like I have to eat out to succeed. Today we had pork roast (good), but with green peas and fried potato slices on the side. Just wanted to say hi and wish you well. Haven't contacted anyone else on the site so far, but you looked friendly and your Journal entry prompted me to write. Regards, Dave
