ShyGuy's Journal, 15 Nov 11

LOL I discussed the upcoming, Thanksgiving, holiday with my brother and his wife. Not only will they not be hosting Thanksgiving, at their house, but neither one plans on keeping to a low carb lifestyle for it. They'll be going over to her mom's house. Both of them said, and I quote,"I'm gonna eat!" LOL This is not really a surprize to me, as my brother was only doing low carb to support his wife's efforts to do it. The low carb lifestyle is too strict for my SIL, and my brother could just as easily meet his minor weight loss goals, by starting on the maintenance level; and will, after the holidays. I told my SIL, if nothing else, she understands the LCWOE better, and why it's not very easy to walk away from our family favorites, when she sees me do it. So, with that said, I'll probably go over to my cousin's house, for Thanksgiving, and try to limit the damage as much as possible. I know I won't have any high carb stuff, here for me, but there is sure to be some at my cousin's house. This may not be the right thing to do, but I already know, there will be a piece of sweet potato pie with my name on it. I'll try to make that my only indulgence. I wish the rest of you better luck, with the holiday, than I'm likely to have; at least on that day. :-(

Oh sorry to hear your planned Thanksgiving is not working out. But I am sure you are going to do your absolute best you have done so well. It is only one day and it is all about the company you keep. Such a shame your SIL can't stick to this, it really easy, easier once you get into it as you know.

Just remember, no feeling bad about a poor choice this Thanksgiving, do your best to stick to the low carb stuff and if you indulge, it's not the end dof the world, your with family and friends and you can always immediately drop back 10 grams of carbs or 5 for a week or so and stay on the straight and narrow after. Just don't throw in the towel completely, try very hard to stick with it and forgive yourself one or two indulgences. Just don't drop the ball completely. All the best :)

Thanks Yvonne, and Scorpio; I have no intention of dropping the ball, completely, but I might bobble it a bit. :-) I'll also try to plan better for Christmas, especially in the way of desserts. I haven't put on my baker's hat in years, so it's time to dust it off. There are a lot of low carb dessert recipes on the internet, many very good; and if all it takes, is for me to wait until I get back home to have dessert, and stay on plan, then so be it.

You will be all right. You are strong and determined to stay with this WOE. The day after Thanksgiving go back and be strict, recording everything. After really having gotten discouraged from my vacation gain of 3 lbs, our friends here helped me see the light and I am excited again. We will stick together and do this, even through the holidays. What a wonderful support system we have, just amazing!

I can understand you dilemma of wanting that piece of sweet potato pie! I am hankering for a piece of pumpkin pie with a huge scoop of whipped cream on top. And I am going to have it - my only indulgence, but it will make the rest of the day so much better! I am thankful that I CAN indulge in that one piece of pie w/whipped cream and know that the next day I will be right back on track again, doing what I need to do. You will be too, I have no doubt! So enjoy you pie!! :)
