MODERATORS: I don't know how to reach you, but have a couple of questions and I'm hoping you or someone not a moderator but with more knowledgable than I, can answer.
1. Is there any way to opt out of getting notices on a journal entry that gets blown up with drama and in-fighting? I am a busy professional that comes here to learn. To encourage others and be encouraged and honestly have no need for the anger, hostility and vitriol. I love hearing differing opinions and weighing the validity - but the "screaming" and unkindness is uncalled for and has run amuck. It's also frustrating to find 50+ alerts and not be able to tell what I really would like to comment on or read because I have to sort through vicious fights.
2. When a post gets really long, is it possible to have a go to the end option? Most boards have a next and a double arrow that will take you to the end instead of having to scroll through 175 messages.
For the rest of the people that enjoy reading and encouraging each other - it's a delight to share ideas and knowledge. If any comments are placed on this journal that reflect a similar tone to what is mentioned above I will delete them.
Thank you, Audrey

If you go into your settings you can opt out of everyone replying to your journal, but no way to do it on an entry by entry basis.

I just quit reading it. UnfortunatIy i don't read several threads when they get too long. If anyone really wants to say something to me, messaging is tge best way. I agree there should be an opt out of thread choice. Right there with you mama.

There's an opt out for activity notification overall but not specific journals/threads like Facebook has as far as I can tell.

Darn. I knew we could opt out altogether, but want the interact with others on the same journey - and not necessarily all on the same diet program, Buggirl. BDM I hate having two people fighting and hijacking a post - it's rude and unproductive. I don't think I'm alone in not caring how "great" their info is if they don't know how to have courtesy in how, when and where to share that knowledge.

It won't disallow you from seeing/posting, just the zillions of notifications...

There is a way. Go to your notifications. Point to the top right hand corner of any notification from the journal that you want to quit. An ☒ will show up. Click on it. A box will pop up asking "Unsubscribe from further posts in this journal thread?" Click OK. Would you believe I ended up unsubscribing from my own journal because of the crappy comments? I can still access the journal, but my notifications are no longer flooded. I hope this helps.

Check your "My Notifications" and see "Notifications Settings". You might be able to pare them down a little. I think I probably miss stuff that might be valuable because I scroll past certain names and also really long posts. Sorry if I miss some buddies' stuff in the process.

Delede - THANK YOU! It was your journal post that was so sadly abused. There were some really great thoughts shared in there so I wanted to read it, but there at the end... I live in a very peaceful, tranquil marriage, family and business world and find no use for that kind of unproductive drama {{{HUGS}}} to you!

And as for the bickerers, please take note! Most of the citizens of this realm would appreciate a more respectful and moderate tone! Chill!

I feel the same way as do so many others. You can disagree with someone in a civil way.No need for insults and abuse just because someone is sticking to his view and opinion.

Thanks everyone - I want to make sure it's clear that the opinions and information some of these people have are valid and important but the way they are communicated and where they are communicated is the issue. Common courtesy is vital in a wide-ranging type forum like this. Just because "I'm just like that," "I'm just a passionate person," or "I care enough to confront," doesn't mean you don't have a responsibility to consider others. I have several family members that are this type of personality and they have learned to communicate with the passion dialed down enough that others WILL HEAR WHAT THEY'RE SAYING. It's all about being an effective communicator. By all means please share your opinion. But if someone won't do what you think they ought or isn't ready to make the change yet. Let it be. Don't have fights with another poster on someone else's journal. Develop a relationship with someone over time so they will come to value your opinion. Losing weight is a mental process as well as a physical process. We're all here to learn - it's just that some have better teaching skills than others and ALL OF US can learn to be better communicators :-) Audrey
