So after trial and error with other apps, I just downloaded FS. Have heard positive things from others and so far I like it! My weight-loss journey started Jan 4th of this year, and so far I am down 50lbs. Today I begin the Keto diet and I have heard this app counts net carbs, hoping this is true as that will make my life alot easier! Looking for inspiration and also to inspire others!

It's great to seek opinions and do research into different ways of eating to decide which path to take, but all the reading and analyzing isn't going to get you there.

@Alone, this is a site full of overweight people trying to improve our health. Using "fat" as an epithet is an insult to all of us--and "fat pos" is doubly so. That's just not appropriate here.

OK wow! Step away for a couple hours and bam!! Lots of interesting stuff happens. Phil I appreciate your candor and honesty... I've already made the commitment to change my life and everything about how I eat. I work out 5-6X's a week, stay on my meal plan and drink a gallon of water a day. Thank you everyone for the welcome wishes! 😍😘

You're welcome Jen, good luck with whichever diet plan you decide to follow. Hopefully Fat Secret will get rid of Alone4ever78 this time, he's gone a little too far with his attempt to "meet me" for whatever reasons. If he really thinks that's something he wants I'm sure the police dept where my brother-in-law works would be more than happy to have him come into the station to discuss his psychotic internet rantings.

I'm not gonna lie, the hardest part for me to wrap my head around is I have to give up lots of fruit and carby veg like carrots and sweet potato, for the most part. I'm going all in for a month and see what happens. If it works for me, then great....if it doesn't, well then I only lost a month. 😊

Yeah, fruit is where low-carb loses a lot of people. Fruit is natural and healthy, right? Right, but it's full of sugar and sugar is forbidden on a low-carb diet. Root vegetables are too starchy for low carb, amylase in your saliva starts breaking down starch into sugar as soon as you put it in your mouth. I'm going to echo Mahjon, "find a small core group of foods that you like that fit into your plan and stick with those". Mahjohn is a wealth of information, wish he'd come back around more often.

Wow, 50 pounds since the beginning of the year: that's TERRIFIC! Oh, and welcome to the keto way of eating.! Hope it works for you, although it's more important to find something that does, if this isn't it. I remain, however, SO IMPRESSED by your loss: way to go!!

I can't deal with carbs that low. That's just me. Try it though. The first couple days of losses will be mostly water as water attaches to glycogen which is the bodies carbohydrate storage method. As to the month lost? No such thing. You'll have learned from it and you will have gained an insight into what dedication means. That's a huge thing.

I have to give my support to Philmck because without him being aware of me back in January i followed his eating plan and became keto within a couple days....25 years tried to lose 20 lbs and could not. i was at 220lbs within two months i had to change my goal down to 180 lbs and now getting ready to lower again to 170....Philmck knows what he is talking about....and if he needs my support to get the creeps off of the FS site i will be there for him 100%. keto not 4 every one, and not easy till you learn what to eat....but it works. phil will not push it on any one. take it or leave it is his motto...your choice. These comments against him makes me sick

I'm not sure Philmk is all that bad, but the warning is valid. There are some you need to listen to with a touch of caution. Just use your own common sense and use what makes sense to you.

I appreciate all of your tips and support!! So far so good on keto. I have a small set of foods that work and that I love so I just eat those. Once I get more accustomed to it I'll venture out and try some new things. Surprisingly I'm not craving the carbs like I thought I would.

That's how I do it on Keto. A Small selection of food that I don't get tired of eating every day. I'm a simple man with simple taste. But it works swimmingly.
