MerryWeather's Journal, 01 Oct 11

One week in and I am feeling very “stuffed” after my dinner today which is not how I would have felt with the potion I served myself a week ago.
So far, here are the things that are working for me:
• Using smaller plates. I believe the old saying of we eat with our eyes before we eat with our mouths. I should really start taking pictures of my plates because they look so beautiful and with the smaller plates they look so full, almost overloaded.

• Drinking the flavored water. I put in cucumbers, or strawberries, or lemon in my water and the flavor make it easy to drink it all day and still get a little fun flavor in my mouth.

• Getting exercise done first thing in the morning during the weekdays (so I don’t have to dread it all day long) and mixing up exercise on the weekend and doing something fun.

• Journaling and recording my food. I have never done either of these before but I really see the benefit.

Challenges I still face:
• Temptations are still quite often.

• In between meals and snacks I have nervous energy that wants to eat.

• Work potlucks and treats are very very hard to resist especially when co-workers made a homemade recipe and ask you to try it.

You are doing so great! I'm glad you are starting to get the full feeling. I hate it when I was still feeling hungry after eating. With work potlucks, it's all about portion and discipline. The last potluck we had at work I ate what I normally would have and got sick because it was too much. I don't want to go through that again so I will be sure to just eat a little of what I'd really like to try, not a little of everything haha.

Oh, that is such a good tip. I will pick one thing I want to try and forget the rest, if I make my one choice last the whole meeting, I’ll be fine. The thing is it is usually the same stuff anyway, so the vegetable platter is my friend and if there is a homemade dish or something new then I can just fit it into my plan and adjust later to make sure I am within my RDI. The thing is I did lose 2 pounds in one week. Last Monday I weighed in 2 pounds heavier and now that I see how much effort it take to lose the weight, I am not going to throw it all away for stale donuts that have been sitting out all day. THANKS AGAIN New Mrs. Rando!
