So almost a week of eating right and working out everyday and Iv lost almost 2lbs. Kinda disappointed but I know as time goes on my body will kick in and this weight will drop off. Doesn't help that my husband has lost 10lbs already but I had prepared myself for that. Men just loose weight faster than women. :-/ oh well I'm just glad we're eating healthy and working out together. Even though it's just been a week, I already feel better. I have more energy and feel lighter. I just never realized how bad I really was eating and what it was doing.

My husband said he would jump on the bandwagon with me too, but that he wanted to give me a head start. Losing weight is nothing to him! He said I could go it alone the first month or two then he would jump in....secretly I think he just has to work up to the idea of no ice cream every night after dinner!

Two pounds in a week is BIG! Aiming for 1 pound a week is a pretty healthy goal. Trying to take off more than a pound or two of actual fat in a week can be exhausting. I remember a high school health teacher who recommended cutting a pound of fat from steaks or whatever, and have a good look at that pile of fat -- just think about just how much that mass of fat is, and what we're asking our bodies to do when we expect to burn it off. A pound may not seem like much compared with the full weight of the human body, but when you have that pound right in front of you, you can see that getting rid of it is a significant task! Bear in mind, too, that working out builds muscle, which adds weight because muscle tissue is dense. It also has a much higher metabolic rate than any other body tissue except the brain, so it's GOOD weight. It can help to use other measurements besides the scales to track progress: measuring hips, waist, and thighs, for example, or just noting how your clothes fit.
