I cheat a few times a year, and I pay for it! I'm sharing my small story to hopefully motivate someone struggling. I just want everyone to know you have to keep fighting to win! To be clear, i don't struggle when I stick to my WOE, but 2x a year, i usually get a big fat reminder to stick to it! Anyone whose struggles with their weight can relate. I went from 113.5 to 121 back to 113 in one week.  It ain't EZ loosing weight or maintaining.  I had lots of cake,  ice cream and pizza.  I went into a 3 day coma.  Being in ketosis really helps me keep my head on straight and clear.  I had a bad brain fog hanging over me for about 5 days till I got back into ketosis again.  Keto/ carnivore really helps depression, inflammation and pain.  My knee started aching too. I went from 113.5 to 121 over night.  That's a LOT OF WATER / inflammation.  It took me a week of hard work and mental gymnastics to get back to feeling better and getting rid of all the inflammation.  I really wanted to fall back and have more cake.  Being in a sleep coma when you don't sleep well at first feels really good.  Then depression and frustration sets in quickly. Maintenance is hard.  I just need to keep doing what I did to lose the weight over the last year and a half.  The more I eat,  the more I want.  I need to keep my meal sizes smaller and have my "I'm hungry" snacks ready,  like sliced meat, yogurt, cheese or beef jerky. This is a mind game.  It's not ez. Time to walk da doggie!

Exactly. I just spent 3 days getting myself into ketosis, a process I am familiar with but this time was more difficult. I was tired - took naps! - as my body shifted from burning sugar/carbs to burning fat. Now all is great! But had my dose of gummy vitamins (5 gr carbs) and then I wanted sweets. Those are going bye bye. If it weren't for the fact that I JUST got into ketosis after a struggle I might have succumbed to the siren call of a sweet taste.

You hit the nail on the head. I really appreciate your reminder. I had forgotten about the brain fog and sleeping. Several folks here have reached out to me and I just couldn’t get my act together. I’ve been in ketosis for about 3 weeks now, and I feel so good. Love your post and helping me remember the things I’ve missed so much. 😳

Thank you for sharing b/c it’s real easy to slip up and when I do, I feel like crap! I’ve learned that bad sugars make me feel bad and don’t agree with my stomach so lesson learned👍🏻

Sarah. Thank you. It's amazing how much clearer my thinking is in ketosis. I wish I knew about this in my teens!

Diana. Thanks! I use to be a brunette 🤣 then I let it go gray for the last 6 years or so. When I reached goal i decided I'd try blond 👱‍♀️ I think I'll stay blond. It seems to work and it's easy to keep up.

so true, so true! When I am eating the carbs, I forget everything about how well I felt before. I fell off the wagon for nearly a year and have fought to get back on - fought with my own addictive thinking. Sure, I'll go back on keto tomorrow. Today I'll just eat this tin of peaches while I still can.... kept in a brain fog, kept feeling sick, constantly sleeping after eating, guts always awful and it's been the blood testing and this time heart problems that have woken me up and sent me back into it. Now I'm 2 weeks in and starting to feel really relaxed, energised, and in control. I'm making packed meals for wherever I go which helps me as well as I have 2 jobs, 1 is an overnight job. Always having the acceptable portions and acceptable foods is really making a difference and on keto I have the energy to prepare meals. off keto, not so much. :D

Bubbles, you're back on it, YEAH. I LOST IT for about a year and did lots of damage. It took me about 3 months to really get in the groove. We can do this!
