The first event of my 46th year is in the books. Normally I do the Vancouver Sun Run in person. As it usually falls near my birthday, I find that it is a good way to gauge my fitness levels compared to previous years. This year was quite a bit slower. But not because of fitness levels (at least, I don’t think so). This year I ran a lot slower than normal because I was doing the “virtual” version of the event, rather than the “in person” version that I normally do, because we were off in the forest this year. In any case, recording it on an app is much less motivating than being there in person. And that’s what this year’s time reflects. Normally I can get it done in under 50 minutes, when I have actual people to compete with. But I’m still happy with the results. I could have gone faster. I could have trained harder…or more often. But this time was more about doing it just to do it. Not so focused on the competition side for a change. Maybe that’s a sign of getting older? 🤔😜
