Thank you members for posting resources for us to check out. I have attended weigh loss, health and wellness summits the past few months. There are so many new names out there that are right on the mark. One of my favorites is Yuri Elkaim. Thru him, and his cohorts, I've come across the most interesting scientific data. So, what I am trying to say is: Please do your research. Do not starve yourself. Your health is your greatest wealth. If you are eating properly and your weight does not go down, maybe your measurements have! Keep searching for answers to the questions: why? Nobody is going to do this for us, we must do it for ourselves. Knowledge is power!

Sugar Waffle, I'd like to thank you for the information you have shared, as well as the quotes. For me the hardest part of continuing a healthy life style is knowing that I must do it not only for myself, but by myself.

Thanks, Sugar Waffle. You and I started with FatSecret about 3 years ago with about the same amount of weight to lose. Your perseverance has really paid off. I on the other hand did not stick to the path..... Well, I'm back now and will adhere to the program which has proven it works with the support and the focus.
Good for you!

It most certainly is, Rockiesfan. Let me share a little.
When you are in a ketogenic state (and fasting induces this), the metabolism does not slow down, and the body does not enter starvation mode regardless of low calorie intake. The reason being that the body has learned to fuel off of fat, and the average body has an unlimited supply of stored fuel that is already tapped into via ketosis. The only exception to this is when one gets down to about 4% of body fat.
On the other hand; if your carb intake is high (or moderate), but calories are too low the metabolism can slow down because it is burning glucose and there is not enough glucose for energy. Thus leading to the slowing down of metabolism to preserve fuel, because it has not been taught how to use fat for fuel.

I should have said fasting and /or carb restriction induces this.

I think most people know that the scale isn't moving because they're snacking too much, their portions are too big, or the occasional cheat or restaurant outing is holding the scale steady.

Well, when my scale doesn't move I blame the scale troll!
