Funny, I eat more meat than ever since I started on this journey. Before I started, I could’ve easily become vegan. I rarely ate meat, especially beef as I just didn’t like the taste. I would rather eat vegetables and fruits. When I started weightlifting and dieting, my WOE totally changed. I needed the protein to enhance the whole weightlifting experience. I came to like beef and of course I eat a lot of chicken. I always liked seafood so that stayed in my diet. It’s such a balancing act and I applaud you for trying new things. 💜

Not everyone says that, Windy Day, although I've had days where I've felt like the lone voice in the wilderness defending carbs on FS 😉🤣 Tempeh is lovely stuff! If you try it, WD, be sure to steam it for about 10 minutes before cooking it however you want it for your dish. Takes out the bitterness. That was a game changer for me with tempeh

Writingwyo, I'm also a big fan of carbs; you are not alone, there are others.

That sounds like my kind of diet, Unity!! =D writingwyo, thanks for that tip! Ive been dieting off and on since the 70s. I packed on the weight with my pregnancies and lost 90lbs doing low fat. Ate all the carbs I wanted. (Does anybody remember Susan Powder?!? lol) Course I was younger and better metabolism...ha! I'm trying to work in more protein and Ive got it up to 70-90g which is pretty good for me, but I have digestion issues with too much fat. Im still a work in progress, lol Shir, I'm with you too

I’m a fan of TJ’s tempeh! I made chili and veg burgers with it on Monday. 😀

It is great that we are all so different each of us finding our way. I spent my summers on my grandparents' beef cattle farm. I grew up eating beef and still love humanely treated, grass fed beef. I just can't afford it. My best friend has Crohn's disease and so we said goodbye to red meat back in 2009. As for carbs, I love those too! I eat more than my fair share each day. To each their own. 💙🕊☮️

mrs_quigley, yesterday was my first try of it and I fell in love immediately. I ran out and bought 2 more!

It’s good stuff! And I agree with your comments about finding your own way. I believe our food choices/preferences should be unique based on a number of factors. Pescatarian here! 🙋‍♀️

I enjoy many forms of tofu, but need to try out tempeh. Thx for the inspiration!

Burnitu9, I was just starting to snuggle up to tofu when I learned that tempeh might be better for me. I tried it and loved everything about it immediately. The texture was the main joy, but it was also nice that I didn't have to press it to remove excess water. I love the nutty flavor. Just fabulous💙 I'm in love! Ha ha ha

Curious why you’re doing gluten free? Barley is gluten. If you cut it out for non allergy reasons it probably doesn’t matter but just wondering.

Shake Those Pounds, wheat seems to upset my digestive system. I will check barley out, thanks so much!

Shake Those Pounds, ah! I did not make the connection between barley and gluten, but I should have. I will pay close attention to how I feel after I eat it now. I really appreciate your comment a great deal. If I must return to tofu, I will. Cutting out wheat products has made me feel so much better. I want to keep my eyes open and be real with my digestion.

You should be able to find tempeh without grains. The grains are just an addition to the basic recipe of fermented cracked soybeans

writingwyo, Thanks so much. I am new to all of this and I really appreciate the help. I will definitely look out for that product.💙
