Writingwyo, I couldn't agree more.. almost all of my favorite moments in my short, practically-50 years of life took place alone and outside. I am not a huge fan of the cold, however. I am ok with it, but it's not a favorite.

WindyD, yes. Me too. And so, in a few years, I will look for a more affordable neighborhood with weather that better suits me. There are always trade-offs no matter where I end up. But I know who I am. I know what I prefer. 💙 So nice to hear from you.

Mrs Q, I have spent a great deal of time up a tree. Reading, staring off into space... it was so fun to teach my kids the same thing... my oldest found joy elsewhere but my youngest is like me. He loves nature, quiet, and solitude.

It's true no place has everything, but that doesnt seem to matter when find the place where you immediately feel like you are home. And that is what makes it perfect for you. :)

TJ, yes, time for quiet contemplation is such a privilege. I cherish it. Happily, I have learned to ID some common trees in the northeast (that is an oak) and I remember that I was facing southwest in this photo. Sometimes just those simple, uncluttered truths are all that is needed. Grateful to my paternal grandmother and my father who fostered a deep connection with nature.
