I am coming to the 2 week mark for VERY low carbs. At what point do I start adding minimal carbs back in?

For the last 2 I have managed to do 0-5 carbs a day. Should I continue this?

Should I allow 5-10 carbs a day?

I am afraid that if I start adding carbs, I will start adding pounds back on... Should I increase exercise? Or should I just limit myself to healthy carbs... like veggies and fruits?

Once you are finished with induction and you feel comfortable with your new eating habits and have no carb cravings you should move to the OWL(on going weightloss) phase of Atkins. This phase reintroduces foods that were not allowed on induction. Think of this phase as a ladder, there are 9 rungs on the ladder. Every time you move up the ladder you add 5 net carbs. You can stay on a rung for a long as you want minimum 1 week. Every time you move up you add 5 net carbs till you reach a carb count where you do not lose any weight. For example, every week you add 5 net carbs and lets say you are up to rung 6 and you are eating 50 net carbs a day and still losing weight then you move up to rung 7 and at 55 net carbs and dont lose weight you go back to 50 net carbs and dont eat more than that untill you are close to your goal weight, But you continue to move up the rungs but you do not add any more carbs. Once you are close to your goal weight then you move onto premaintance phase where you add more carbs and slow down your weightloss to get you ready for the lifetime phase. Rungs (add 5 net carbs for each rung) 1. induction safe veggies 2. Dairy 3. seeds and nuts 4. berries/small portions of melon 5. wine and other low carb spirits 6. legumes 7. fruits other the berries and melon 8. starchy veggies 9. whole grains I hope this helps, I will send you a email via fatsecret listing examples of foods and some websites. Good Luck on your weightloss journey. Sandra
