Thinking about it, weighing every day is not productive and can be discouraging.

this was posted the other day and I think it's a great representation of how it works. I would hope however have to completely disagree on the daily weigh ins but to each their own. To me I do t care what the number says day to day it's all about a trend line and the more data points on that trend line the more you can derive from it.

OTB, I also am a fan of daily weigh-ins (even when I dread them), it helps keep me on track. But the yo-yo truly does get old sometimes!

You have got to remember that you have about 26 FEET of bowel. What you poop today is typically waste from foods you ate 2-3 days ago. Different foods take longer than others.to make it through your digestive track. People who snack all the time never have an empty digestive track.

Just my opinion but weighing every day probably makes more people quit trying to be healthy, than it keeps. It's mind games daily with the fluctuations. Of all the good habits I found losing 131 lbs. Weighing myself for most of that time was a mental strain. I know people will come on here and say blah blah blah the trends. But if we know the body can fluctuate anywhere from 2 to 5 lbs daily based on fluids. So why weigh every day with that knowledge? To each their own though. But I'm glad I stopped doing it a few months back. The scale is a tool but it isn't the end all be all. There's so much more to being healthy than a number. Yes it's important! No it doesn't soley determine if you're healthy or not.

Yup. To each their own on weigh ins. I had to get over the emotion and now it’s useful data. That said, if I went back to obsessing and freaking out, I’d pare it back.

So if the body can fluctuate up 5 lbs every day how discouraged would you be if your weekly weigh in one week was on the lowest end of that fluctuation then the next week the highest and now your beyond frustrated because now you think you gained multiple lbs even though you have been doing evrything right and have even been losing body fat 😒

I remember when i was in my 20s and had gained so much weight with 3 pregnancies, I went on low fat diet while breastfeeding an infant. I was weighing weekly, was always how "we" did it, and lost 80 lbs in a little more than a year. Between the enormous caloric toll of breastfeeding and a 20 something metabolism - the scale dropped like clockwork weekly. NOW fast forward a few decades, less active lifestyle, metabolism slowed down etc etc, the daily works for ME. Do I know it's water/poop when there's a gain? Sure, but I only log the lowest drops. This is keeping the trend and I know what I need to do on the *up* days.

Windy Day I love that you are trying different things and adapting to what works for you at the moment. Far too often especially on here we see people hoping on the latest fad or doing what's working for someone else and not figuring out what works for them.

Thank you, OTB, how kind of you to say 😊 We're all different and what works for me today may not work tomorrow. We just keep on trying until we see results and keep going with that till we need to do something else. Whatever works! 💪💪❤️
