p$m's Journal, 24 Jan 23

Hi FS family. I hope everyone is having a great new year so far. I'm feeling stressed. January is almost over and my weight has gone down but then went up again. I wish I could manage better. I know what caused the recent up in my weight and I guess I'm mad at myself. From experience eating after 6pm tends to cause my weight to go up on the scale when I weigh myself in the morning. But at the same time, my father is here visiting and I feel bad when he has to eat dinner alone. So I end up eating with him. Next morning 2 lbs up which took the past 3 weeks to drop. Why do I guilt myself into eating? He looks sad when I say I'm not hungry or going to eat so I eat. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? My next plan is maybe not eating and just sipping tea / coffee while he eats and sit with him. I use to be able to do that when my mom was alive but now I just feel bad.

I like the sipping tea idea. Get a BIG pretty decorative pot for the table so you have a meal size article in front of you. Best to you and the family.

I think the sipping tea is a good idea. Life sometimes causes us to derail but sometimes it's more important. Do what feels right to you!💜🙏💜🙏

Could you plan your meals/calories around your meal together with your dad? That way you’re still eating even if it’s fruit or salad or a smaller portion of what he’s eating.

I don't know how long your Dad is visiting but if it's a short visit I'd adjust while he's there. When I'm with family I eat with them. I pick foods off the menu that fit into my WOE. You can always eat a protein....meat or fish & have either a salad or a couple of vegetables. Adjust your food earlier in the day to lighter choices to save some calories. I just spent a long weekend with my Sisters. We ate lunch out 2 days & we ate out 2 nights & had takeout wings with a homemade salad 1 night. I actually lost weight....down half a lb. Even if you gain a couple of lbs. it will come off quickly after your Dad is gone.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I will try. I’m hoping eventually dad will live here with me permanently. I don’t like that he’s alone since mom passed. So I do need to figure it out.

I personally recommend a "high fiber carbohydrate, high protein, low fat" menu for meals that cannot be avoided. With this content, weight gain is not extreme unless a large amount of Kcal is consumed. Some combinations are particularly prone to weight (body fat percentage) gain. It is "only sugar and fat" and "only fruit and alcohol. 【My take on weight.】 Weight = just a rough guide to your current muscle mass and body fat percentage. Everyone's proper weight is different based on age, gender, and height.✨ ▽<|b✨
