melissatwa's Journal, 03 Jul 22

I know I have posted a lot of flowers lately, but raindrops on my roses are some of my favorite things, and these pictures are from my yard this morning. It is a damp and drizzly weekend here in the PNW, but my flowers are happy becuase it isn't pouring down rain! Sunshine is coming this week! Have a beautiful rest of your day!

Thank you, ajbusjahn! Mine were so lame and late this spring. It was/is so cold, and I got so much damage to the early blooms. I'm thankful they are finally stating to do better! Yvonnelf, I would love a double delight! It should give you more blossoms, right? My hybrid teas will take turns blooming all the way into winter. Sometimes I decorate for Christmas with my final flowers! But, our temps are pretty mild here. Good luck on your journey !

Thank you, Becky!!! Sk, I wish I was there now! Thank you, CharlieLoves and white panther! Macros! Got it, Tom! Very clever, but I'm still going to think of a real rose! Thank you, Patti!

Wow, unbelievable Melissa!!!🌺 How can you have so many perfect roses? You’re the best!!!! My husband caught someone coming right up to our front windows to cut flowers, WHAT NERVE! I don’t even have that many flowers anymore, just tall geraniums.🙃 Yet, you’re really influencing me to start growing roses again!👍💕

Love2! Yep, I think we might have summer happening soon. It looks like the forcast is mostly dry weather for the foreseeable future. I am so ready for the sun! Happy summer to you and yours, sir!

Same to you! I was at a baseball game in Kirkland during the worst of the rain yesterday.

Shrewdness! The nerve! If I had such troubles I'd set up my motion activated sprinkler again! The deer are taking a different path through the neighborhood since we replaced our back fence. So... The sprinkler is available! Want to borrow it!? That would mean you need to come visit, so just let me know when you need a pick up from the airport! I seriously advise against growing roses though! If I had any idea the annoying trouble they would be, I would have stopped at one bush. Sadly, they became an obsession and now I'm stuck. But, I have talked myself out of getting more for the last several years, so perhaps I have matured enough to... Or I will graduate to some other form of folly. 😂

My rose bush is a stick. My height but a stick. Doesn't seem to matter what I put on it/in the ground-its a stick. A 6 year old stick. No leaves, just a stick and thorns. Still alive and a stick. I got 3 roses off my stick a few years back. They were so pretty. Thank you for sharing your roses. I keep showing my stick the pictures but it's not helping. BTW, it's a nice stick and growing well.

Hahaha! Anne, how funny!! Or not....😂 Poor you and your "stick." Sounds like you need to prune that stick down! Most roses love a mighty trim! You can do it any time... No need to wait until spring or fall... Just give it a wack down to knee level! If its leaves are falling off, maybe a fungus? That is what I fight and fight and fight. Seattle area grows that stuff at a great rate! But, there are lovely sprays that work! I hope you find some help for your stick, no sense having something with so much potential and not coaxing some flowers forth! 🌹😂

Melissatwa poor stick. I DO cap it at knee height every fall. Never had a problem child before. Poor stick has 3 pinkie nail sized leaves, higher, thither and yon. I've had 3 roses total in 6 years. Sigh.
