Wall Street journal (front page article a few years ago) reported a youth ate canned tuna 3 times a day and developed mercury poison. He had trouble speaking and coordination problems. I tell you this only to let you know canned tuna contains heavy metals and caution must be used on amounts of canned tuna one eats. You will find no caution written on the can. Why? I guess, everything in moderation is important in all things.

We feel pretty safe with our Wild Planet Albacore Tuna. We only have tunafish salad a couple times a month so - we are not scared at all.

Looks great.

jakekells, it looks like she uses mayonnaise in it. Mayo contains edta as a flavor/color preservative. Edta chelates Mercury.

Anne the Fab - Thanks for your post. Hey I just read some of your posts especially noticed the mention of Memphis, TN. Do you still live here? I moved away for 20 years but moved back (Lakeland, TN) four years ago because we were going to FINALLY be grandparents 😁. Yay, now have 3 🙄🤷.

Imalittlefluffy we tried to move back but it's changed too much. Didn't expect it to have stayed exactly the same but it was actually frightening to live in midtown/MSU area. Had to threaten to shoot my nextdoor neighbor to get him out of my house. He managed to get in, doors and windows locked, at 6am on a Sunday morning. Oh hell no.

EDTA CHELATES MERCURY!! @Anne the Fab, were you a chemist?? I have degrees in toxicology and chemistry and only someone with that kind a background could spit out that sentence.

Um, no but I went through the whole "tuna will kill you due to the Mercury levels" in the 70s. I read a lot since then and eat a LOT of tuna. I am either dead, the chelation thing is correct or I'm immune to Mercury poisoning. Your choice.

And Fluffy, you're okay with a can once every 5-7 days. Children under the age of 10 can eat a can once every 7-10 days, typically a function of weight. Tuna is actually subject to Fed Regs for Hg content, but you still have to be aware of aggregate (cumulative) exposure. Salad looks wonderful, I love tuna!!

Anne the Fab, It's probably gotten worse since you left. My old friends warned me but I thought it couldn't be much different than Atlanta! Boy was I wrong. We are outside the city but still. We absolutely hate having to get on the interstate and travel through Memphis. Northern Mississippi is getting almost as bad (Olive Branch).

We moved back to Memphis (Raleigh, went to school in Frayser) on 4 April 1968. Scary. I was 5. Spent the next 14 years there and fled. Moved back in 2008? And left after a year. Never my favorite city. It got so much worse. Felt safer in the lower East side of Manhattan in the 80-90s than I ever felt in Memphis.

hello. is that mayo or yogurt in your tuna i would like to try it
27 Jun 22 by member: lovelyday1973
lovelyday1973, It is mayo - I should have Titled this post "Tunafish salad salad". Sometimes I mix in Avocado to cut the mayo but I also mix in some chow chow and mustard (for the tangyness) always cellery (including the leaves) and sometimes pickle relish.
