davidsprincess's Journal, 24 Feb 22

In December I only made it to the gym 5 times.-9 days in January- due to covid and lack of motivation. And 19 so far this month but will be 22 or 23 by the end. I missed twice because of snow, once because I ended up having to work very late & I took 3 days off for no reason other than "rest" which wasn't really needed. In March I need to tighten up on my food tracking. I am more forgetful than ever- remembering a handful of olives or light cheese stick or the lorna doones at work- the next day and having to go back. More than once I have thought I was closer to my calories and then recalled whatever else I ate. Other times I have eaten such an insane amount of calories that I just stop tracking and write it down as something just to get it in there. Usually I will put 10 servings of Ben and Jerry's just to try to register it. That never used to be the case and so I hope to be as meticulous as I once was- even when the calories were a huge surplus, I knew where they came from. The gym AND calorie control will try to be the focus for March and every month thereafter. I hate being over 200 pounds. I feel terrible about myself and look yucky. A month from today we have our first "in person" meeting at our office since covid. I miss seeing everyone and wish I would look better rather than worse. I want to do my best between now and then to at least get a few inches off my waist. All I can do is a little damage control. No fixing it at this point. At least my hair will be fabulous. 😄🏋️‍♀️💋

Ugh, I'm right there with you. I'm sliding down that slippery slope and slowly gaining. We know HOW to do this. We've got to get back to the basics of how we were successful in the first place, and do that again!

DP, it breaks my heart a bit when you say you feel terrible about yourself. You've heard all the positive self-talk stuff, so I will leave you with this quote that I just read this morning - "You wouldn't say it to your your daughter, why would you say it to yourself." 💕

Oh my gosh DP we’re in the same boat! You were ahead of me, but now I’m following you the other way as well.🙃 I took out my one size bigger jeans today and wanted to cry!😩 I need to meet my brother-in-law in a month as well, and I’d like to be a lot thinner as well. For a while there I thought bring it on, but now I don’t want to see him yet till I’m back to where I was. He’s very critical about weight, but he is short and has stayed in shape, he works hard at it. So I guess he can criticize.😞 So let’s bring on March and march through it with determination to get back to where we were!♥️ I want to kick crap at my BIL!!!💪 Becky, I don’t have a daughter so I can say all sorts of crap to myself.😆 Here’s to tracking, which I have been sucking at as well, you know you can put in a healthy meal instead of a doughnut and get the same calories, but the nutrition is null.😆 Here’s to you DP, as Jimmie would say, Let’s Go!👍

These messages resonated with me. Take good care of your children's Mother, the gate to happiness is self-compassion, appreciate yourself and honor your soul, and lastly Your mind is the garden your thoughts are the seeds, the harvest can either be flowers or weeds. William Wordsworth

I was also terrible about getting into the gym, not tracking my calories or even weighing in. Covid, work, new puppy it all gave me a reason to have an excuse and have that extra donut at work. (insert donut jokes here lol) But like you, I've told myself I'm back at it now and staying on track. March will be my first full month too. You got this DP!! 💪

You are so incredibly strong, Princess! I hear something the other day... someone being condescendingly told they were "not that great," they replied with, "you are right, I'm incredible!! " Maybe we do need a little of that attitude! You are back doing an incredible job getting to the gym... I know nothing about having that kind of dedication. Cold, early mornings require a bit of the superhuman to brave when the reward is sore muscles! Goodness you are doing so great! We do have a lifetime of bad habits battling it out for how to manage our stress, and sorrow and that same lifetime of learning how to celebrate our joys and victories... Retraining is taking ever so long, and regressing is the easiest thing ever. Onward we trudge!!! Proud of you, Princess!!

Good Luck to you with your plans..sounds good! Feb through Mar my goal is identifying bad habits (one by one ) and replacing with good habits!. I read an interesting article to do with how to effect this and one of the things is if you have bad habits originating in a particular area of the house such as den while watching TV (munching) change to another environment and eliminate the associated activity.

You're lucky to still have a gym to go to. I quit two years ago when the pandemic started and since the gym has closed it's doors as many small businesses have suffered. Anyways to me it sure looks like you are on the right track and are well on your way to your goal. GL.

I find that most people are rather oblivious to changes, even when they seem dramatic to us.

The struggle continues, DP. I was reviewing my last ten years of notes on FS last night and I noted that I've eaten about the same calories and macros at times, but I was killing it on the treadmill and with weights when was about 30 pounds lighter... easy to lose track. Good luck on getting back to it and I'm trying too...

I recently got back in the gym. I understand your passion. Weight loss is depended on CICO. Most say that weight loss is more than 75% diet. The gym is a wonderful place to change our body composition and burn calories too. It's CICO and the gym that is the combination that sparks the fire that burns the fat. I suggest you log every crumb you eat. Be as accurate as possible and learn what and how much you are eating. I use the app on my mobile phone at lot, even when I'm at home. If want a snack. I grab my phone. CICO...

Friday I am definitely back on this serious!! Its a never ending battle but we both can do it!! I got great exercise today but got to get my calories in sync.

Larilyn- I just restart every day. :) ccandco- I know. I'll try. It certainly doesn't make me do any better to be disgusted with myself but there it is. Hebrewz- so good. Shrewdness- what is your BIL's deal? You have mentioned him before. That struck me so funny when you said you don't have daughters. hahaha.

I like those words- Little Red Fox. Jay- those are great reasons- especially the donut. Thanks, Wifey- Yesterday did happen to be BACK. I am as strong as a lot of the men or they are lifting light. Diana- My hair sucks. I made that joke because I started wearing wigs for fun and I have a ton. hahaha.

Melissa- my dear... IDK what to do. I don't like being hungry but when you stretch your stomach with food for years- that's what happens. I think it is inevitable. And that doesn't count when I eat when I am not hungry. Lots of work to do. LOTS. John- Maybe we are just packing on more muscles for our ultimate reveal when we lose again. 💪🏋️‍♀️🤷‍♀️

AC Legtt- That is interesting. I think just walking into my house sometimes makes me eat. Everything is just a habit when you think about it. Allanpendlebury- not only do I have a gym but yesterday was able to not have to wear a mask which is thrilling. I'm over the masks. I wear them all day at work and it is nice to give it a rest for a bit. Erika- I am pretty oblivious- but this isn't 10 pounds that I am up. It is a lot. I am just hoping everyone has more to worry about. Thanks, Draglist- You too!3dkids2- thanks. John10251- I need to do that, 100 calories here and there adds up quickly. Maine Coon- Yes- we can do it!
