this is awesome i've lost 7 pounds in only 5 days. i was eating totally wrong and was uneducated about the caloric content of foods, once i started counting calories i've become educated about portions, foods that are good and bad for weight gain etc, the value of exercise to enable you to accumulate a large caloric deficit to lose weight quicker, and have learned a totally different eating habit.
i use calorie counting, basal metabolism, calorie counting of exercise, and eat just about anything i want the calorie counting forces you to watch your portion size and it really works.
the most difficult part of this is doing the math, using a measuring cup to measure portion sizes, recording what you eat constantly, doing the math and counting what you've burned vs. what you consumed for the day, etc and then looking up calories of certain foods it is tedious but it works. you can eat anything you want as long as you stay under you base metabolism rate there is a mathemeatical formula to figure out your base metabolism.
but what i've learned is that sugars, oil, and carbs are what hurting our weight loss programs. the first few days are the most difficult because you start burning fat and your body doesn't like the feeling because you get this constant hunger pain that stays for about 3 days but disappears. to make the diet plan permanent you can't drastically reduce your caloric intake or fat intake you have to drop you caloric intake about 20-30 percent below your basal metabolism rate and then eats more lean protein to quench your hunger. i've learned the value of low calorie veggies to help as fillers instead of carbs.
