Forgot to address the weight gain. No idea why except that this is a pattern for me. I lose a lot, have some sort of rebound, and then continue on to lose. These weird and unwelcome gains don't bother me now. I expect them to happen from time to time and since I do also have a worsening aortic stenosis, know it can be related to mild, intermittent CHF. This another good reason to avoid commercially produced food products. Keep it simple ingredients, then make it all taste good with seasoning and cooking method. Make 'most' bites count, with the very occasional 'whatever' small snack. I cannot give up some form of fruit; blue- and strawberries, oranges (1/2 at a time) will continue to be my 'sweet' stuff...and a rare Belgian chocolate cookie (3 to a 180 cal serving). I pay more attention to carb grams than to calories but try to keep within my 1300 a day at this time, due to recovering from three nasty viral infections, including breakthrough COVID.
