According to my calories eating versus BMR I should lose about 1 lb per week. BUT since I am eating less than 50 grams of carbs (shooting for 30 grams) I should have a metabolic advantage from ketosis.

I am trying to turn into a fat burning machine instead of a sugar burning machine, which is one of the basic principles of The Primal Blueprint.

I only did my BMR calories, I am not counting extra calories burnt by moving around because I am pretty sedentary right now. That way there won't be any pressure on me to exercise yet. My back has been very messed up - going to chiropractor and acupuncturist.

My original starting weight is 313, which is pretty much what I have weighed since 2006, when I first started low carb with Atkins. I was very successful with Atkins but I want to use Primal instead because of the additional information he gives about % of protein, fats, carbs and generally I think it's more high-tech than Atkins.

The only reason I gained so much weight is that I have pretty much been binge eating since May 4 when my daughter graduated from college. I don't know what you guys think a "binge" is but seriously I can really put the food away.

I can go eat large fry, large diet coke, 3 mcdoubles. Then go to the gas station and get a frozen dejourno pizza, 2 packs of cookies, 2 cowtails, moon pie, and another candy bar and suck it all down.

And when I do this I tend to not take my insulin and meds.

Can you say "stroke waiting to happen"??

Um, yeah. Very disgusting. But when I'm in that mode, I am just like a zombie. It's like an out of body experience. I don't even pay attention to what I'm doing.

So I will come here and write 50 blogs in a row if I have to in order to stay on track.

The worst thing that I think all of us binge eaters do is "hide" when we are binging. I am going to try not to do that.
