tapeekcm's Journal, 22 Feb 11

Good thing my buddy has a jeep or there would be no way I could make it into the office this morning. Last night was the scariest driving experience of my life. Around 3:00PM it started snowing really bad so around 4:30 I decided to go to the gym in my office since the cars werent moving outside. I left the gym around 6:45 thinking that it would be empty and I would get home with no problems...I was definitely wrong.

Roads were horrible, accidents and stuck cars everywhere. I barely made it home myself. My normal 20 minute commute took almost 3 hours! I wish the snow would go away for good.

In other news, my Garmin Forerunnner 405 is due to come in the mail today. I'm pretty excited to give it a try. Got some lifting and treadmill running in yesterday but it looks like these last 15 pounds are going to give me a hard time. I think it is mostly due to my diet though. I haven't really counted calories in a while and I know I'm not eating enough, but I feel I'm also not getting enough protein in my diet. Going to go back to making lunch for the week, some sort of chicken dish that I can reheat. Hopefully that will help me get back on track and get rid of these last 15 pounds.

Yikes! I remember those days when I lived in the Midwest. In college I didn't want to miss my final and what normally took me 45 mins took me 3.5 hrs only to find out I could have rescheduled it. So I can totally relate. Glad you're safe though! The sacrifices we make for exercise! Keep us posted on the Garmin - be interested to hear what you think. What site did you order it from?

Hey Dsy thanks, it definitely was scary. I probably should of skipped the gym to get home safely, but I can't help it sometimes LOL. I'll be writing a journal entry on the Garmin after I give it a good week's worth of running. I just ordered from Best Buy since I had 0% financing. I just got the watch for now. From what I've heard the premium HR monitor is worth getting seperately since it is much better quality. I am going to be doing HR zone training this summer so I will end up picking that up. I'll probably get the foot pod next winter for indoor training as well. Right now all I needed was the watch though.
