I am 2 hours from snow skiing and 30 minutes from the beach and places as pictured are everywhere. We just call them hills

As screwed up as California is sometimes I can’t really imagine living anywhere else. It is an active person’s dream..

Dang Kenna, because of the beautiful weather I can’t live anywhere else!!! My husband wants to get out of California because it is screwed up. Oh well one day at a time we’ll see what the future brings. 🙃

I have thought about moving SOMEPLACE else (daughter in Texas but will be moving to Michigan in a year). But everyplace has a drawback whether it’s political, weather, economy, whatever. I own my condo, have no bills, I’m healthy, I can afford to go visit anyplace I want (pre Covid), I can lock my house up and take off at a moments notice and have wonderful neighbors who will watch it for me. I just don’t see any advantage to moving. I am not a “home” person, or into decorating or buying stuff. If I have a fridge, stove and a bed I’m perfectly happy.

Same. I mostly love it here. I’ll seriously reevaluate nearer to retirement age. I did a retirement calculator once that said $1M savings will only last 7 years in CA vs 20+ in many other locations. That was a long time ago, and many things have changed, I’m sure, but the good things are so good. Adulting is so hard. I should try and find that calculator again.

For me, the key was not having a mortgage. I made it my priority to pay my condo off. As it was my payment was almost nothing anyway. I bought when California real estate was low and the stock market was high.. it worked out well
